Bose Smart Soundbar 900 presented: With Dolby Atmos, Google Assistant and Alexa

The newly introduced Smart Soundbar 900 positions itself as the top model at the top of Bose’s lineup. It finally also supports Dolby Atmos and enables voice control using Alexa and Google Assistant.

Successor to the Bose Soundbar 700

The Bose Smart Soundbar 900 marks the successor of the popular Soundbar 700 (699.00 euros at Amazon) and comes up with some technical improvements. In addition to Dolby Digital and Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos is finally supported, which ensures realistic audio reproduction. Thanks to ADAPTiQ audio room calibration, the soundbar adjusts the sound to the room’s specifications.

The case includes a precisely arranged array of seven speakers, including two new transducers – for audio reproduction you’d otherwise only expect from in-ceiling speakers. Combined with Bose’s proprietary PhaseGuide technology, the sound is multi-directionally dispersed to different areas of the room. This creates the feeling that it is not just coming from your speaker, but from all directions.

When content is not Dolby Atmos-encoded, as with stereo or 5.1 surround sound, Bose TrueSpace technology takes over the vertical experience and remixes the signals to create height and deliver the same stunning sound even without in-ceiling speakers.

Voice control and much more

In addition to the included remote, the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 can also be controlled via voice. Both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant are integrated. Thereby, the soundbar can even call or accept calls from Amazon Echo products as well as any person in the contact list.

Bose Voice4Video technology is used here, which expands voice control in a unique way. This means that not only the Smart Soundbar 900, but also the TV and connected cable or satellite receivers can be easily switched on and operated via voice control.

In addition, the soundbar has an Ethernet port and can communicate wirelessly via WLAN or Bluetooth 4.2. Spotify Connect and Apple AirPlay 2 are also available. Besides HDMI eARC, there is an optical input, a USB port, and the ADAPTiQ input.

Optionally, an additional bass module and an IR Blaster can also be wired together to create a powerful overall sound package. With the help of the Bose Music App, the Smart Soundbar 900 can be conveniently set up and managed. There is also the option in the app to select the voice assistant, run the ADAPTiQ audio calibration system, and group compatible smart home products. The Bose Smart Soundbar 900 measures 5.81 cm x 104.5 cm x 10.7 cm (HxWxD) and weighs 5.75 kg. It is offered in black and white.
