The iconic PX7, which was also available as a special edition made of carbon in 2020, is getting a successor. However, the Bluetooth headphones Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 will not be a bargain.
Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 in detail
The Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 present themselves in a completely redesigned design, which at first glance, however, has some parallels to the predecessor. The headphones are offered in three colors: black, blue and gray.
New are the drivers responsible for the sound with a diameter of 40 mm. These are shrunk in comparison to the Px7, but should offer a clearer and better sound. Sony also proceeded similarly recently in the case of the WH-1000XM5, which offer better acoustics despite smaller drivers.
The specially designed and angled 40mm drivers in the Px7 S2 are said to offer nothing less than “sensational headphone sound that is second to none”, according to the product website. They present music in 24-bit quality and support Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive Bluetooth codec. In addition, there is aptX and even aptX HD.
The active noise cancellation (ANC) has also been improved, which is supposed to suppress ambient noise even more effectively. The built-in microphones are also said to have improved and convince with crystal-clear call quality during phone calls.
Battery life and design
The battery life of the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 is said to be around 30 hours. In addition, there is a wear detection sensor that can be fine-tuned in three levels. In the most sensitive setting, the headphones already pause the music when lifted. Alternatively, they only pause when you put them down completely, or not at all.
In terms of design, the manufacturer again relies on high-quality materials to ensure a high level of wearing comfort. This is to be ensured by the elegant fabric overcoat and the ear pads made of lush memory foam, which completely enclose the ears.
Price and Availability
The Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 Bluetooth headphones are available now directly from the manufacturer. Amazon lists the headphones with a release date of July 04, 2022, and the MSRP is 429 euros, which is currently just under 40 euros above Sony’s new top model.
