BYD: German prices for the e-cars are fixed

Car manufacturer BYD (“Build Your Dreams”) is launching its e-car offensive in Germany. With the BYD Atto 3, Tang and HAN initially three vehicles will also start in Germany, before the Tesla 3 competitor BYD Seal 2023 follows. Meanwhile, the German website has launched and reveals pricing.

BYD: E-cars start in Germany from 38,000 euros

In a press release, carmaker BYD has named the prices for the three models that will kick off its own lineup in Germany. According to the manufacturer, however, these are the pre-sale prices for the German market and may differ in other countries.

The three models are to be shown at the Paris Motor Show in October, as we had already suspected at the end of August. Initially, the models will be launched in Germany, the Benelux countries and the Scandinavian countries. France and the UK are to follow later in the year.

This suggests that the launch in Germany could take place shortly after the Paris Motor Show. Maybe even in October? What we do know now are the prices.

Kicking off the lineup is the BYD Atto 3, a compact e-SUV that will be offered in Germany at a price starting at 38,000 euros. It will be followed by the large BYD Tang e-SUV and the BYD Han sedan, both of which are expected to start at 72,000 euros. However, there is still no sign of the compact BYD Seal sedan in the listing.

Market leader launches in Germany

Germany is an important core market for the Chinese automaker, so the focus on explicitly German prices is hardly surprising. Especially since the three all-electric models look very exciting and have a lot going for them.

Unlike the manufacturer’s other models, the Atto 3 relies on a FWD (front-wheel drive) with a 150 kW electric motor. A 60.48 kWh battery is installed, which should enable a range of up to 420 kilometers (according to WLTP).

The BYD Tang is considerably larger, measuring 4.87 meters in length. It offers a total of seven seats and is said to offer a premium experience through and through. It is equipped with variable all-wheel drive, a high level of comfort, plenty of space and an efficient powertrain.

The 380 kW electric motor accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, although the BYD Tang is limited to 180 km/h. 22-inch wheels and an 86.4-kWh battery pack are on offer. When it comes to trunk space, the Tang is set up in a variety of ways. Up to 1,665 liters are offered.

The BYD Han premium sedan is the third model in the lineup. Here, too, a 380 kW all-wheel drive system is at work, enabling a speed of 180 km/h. Thanks to the lower weight compared to the Tang, the premium electric sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. Here, the battery holds 85.4 kWh, which is supposed to provide a range of 512 km.
