CalDigit has introduced the Element 5 Hub, a new docking solution based on the latest Thunderbolt 5 standard. The hub promises extremely high data transfer rates and offers numerous connections for high-resolution displays and peripheral devices. With a data transfer rate of up to 120 GBit/s, the Element 5 Hub is aimed at users who place the highest demands on performance and connectivity.
Key features of the CalDigit Element 5 Hub:
- Thunderbolt 5 connectivity: support for up to four 4K monitors with 144 Hz refresh rate.
- Versatile connectivity: Four Thunderbolt 5/USB4 ports, two USB-C ports and three USB-A ports.
- Powerful power supply: Supplies the connected computer with up to 90 watts of power.
Versatile connection options for modern working environments
The Element 5 hub has a total of four Thunderbolt 5 or USB4 ports that support USB Power Delivery with 15 watts. High-resolution monitors or fast storage solutions can be connected to these ports. In addition, the hub offers two USB-C ports with data transfer rates of up to 10 Gbit/s and a power supply of up to 7.5 watts, as well as three USB-A ports with the same specifications. This variety of ports allows users to connect a wide range of devices and flexibly design their working environment.
High performance and compatibility
With a maximum data transfer rate of 120 GBit/s, the Element 5 Hub offers impressive performance for data-intensive applications. In optimal configurations, Windows PCs with Thunderbolt 5 support can drive up to four 4K monitors at 144 Hz.
However, it is important to note that the actual number of supported monitors and their resolution depends on the specifications of the computer and operating system used. For example, image output to three monitors is not possible under macOS, and if a Windows system only supports Thunderbolt 4, a maximum of two monitors can be connected.
Design and availability
The Element 5 hub measures a compact 114 x 70 x 25.5 millimetres and is operated with a maximum power of up to 180 watts. Connected computers can be supplied with up to 90 watts, which is sufficient for most laptops. The docking solution will be available from mid-February at a price of around 250 euros.
With the Element 5 Hub, CalDigit offers a powerful and versatile solution for users who place high demands on their working environment and want to benefit from the advantages of the Thunderbolt 5 standard.
