Canon is expanding its camera portfolio with the new EOS R6 V and the RF 20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ. The new duo is aimed at modern content creators who want to create high-quality video and photo recordings in a compact setup. The focus is particularly on hand-held shooting, flexible workflows and professional video functions. With the EOS R6 V, Canon is launching a compact full-frame camera in the EOS V series for the first time and combining it with the first RF full-frame lens with integrated power zoom.
- EOS R6 V with 7K RAW, 4K 120p and integrated image stabilization
- RF 20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ with integrated power zoom
- Open gate shooting for flexible social media formats
- Compact full-frame setup for video, photo and live streaming
Canon EOS R6 V focuses on mobile video and hybrid productions
With the EOS R6 V, Canon is expanding its video-oriented EOS V series with a model with a full-frame sensor and extensive professional functions. The camera combines a comparatively compact body with powerful video and photo technology and is aimed primarily at solo creators, vloggers and hybrid productions.
The technical data looks quite ambitious. The camera supports 7K RAW recordings with up to 60 frames per second, oversampled 4K with 60p and 4K slow motion with up to 120p without cropping. This is supplemented by 2K recordings with up to 180 frames per second. The EOS R6 V therefore offers a wide range of applications, particularly for creative video formats, slow-motion sequences and high-quality content productions.
A key feature is the camera’s internal 5-axis image stabilization, which, according to Canon, can compensate for up to 7.5 exposure levels. This should bring noticeable advantages, particularly for hand-held shots or mobile productions. At the same time, at 688 grams, the camera remains comparatively compact for a full-format model with an integrated stabilizer and active cooling.
The software and workflow functions also clearly show the focus on modern content production. Open gate recording allows content to be flexibly cut for horizontal and vertical platforms. There is also a vertical user interface, an additional recording button on the front and USB-C streaming with up to 4K 60p for live streams or webcam use.
For autofocus performance, Canon once again relies on Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with intelligent scene recognition for people, animals and vehicles. In addition, the “People Priority” function supports up to ten faces simultaneously, making dynamic shooting situations easier.
The RF 20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ expands Canon’s video ecosystem
Alongside the new camera, Canon presents the RF 20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ, the first RF full-frame lens in the L-series with integrated power zoom. This is Canon’s response to the increasing demand for compact hybrid lenses for video and photo productions.
The integrated servo zoom enables smooth zoom movements during video recordings and should be of particular interest for vlogs, interviews and documentary content. At the same time, the lens can also be used as a classic zoom-by-wire, allowing precise manual control.
The focal length range of 20 to 50 millimetres covers typical areas of application for content production – from wide-angle shots to classic everyday scenes. With a constant aperture of F4, the lens also remains flexible enough for mobile productions.
Canon has also integrated L-series technologies such as UD lens elements, Air Sphere Coating and optical focus breathing correction. This should ensure stable framing and high image quality, even when shooting video.
At just 420 grams, the lens remains comparatively light and is particularly suitable for hand-held setups or gimbal recordings. The optical stabilization achieves up to six stops and, in combination with the camera’s internal stabilization, even up to eight stops.
Conclusion
With the EOS R6 V and the RF 20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ, Canon is significantly expanding its range for modern content production. The compact full-frame system combines powerful video functions, flexible workflow features and professional stabilization in a mobile setup. Solo creators and hybrid productions in particular are likely to benefit from the combination of power zoom, open gate and high video quality. The EOS R6 V costs €2,499 RRP, the lens is priced at €1,499 RRP. Both products will be released on June 24, 2026, the bundle will be offered for 3,699 euros RRP.
