Chinese battery manufacturer CATL has made significant progress in electromobility with the launch of the second generation of its Shenxing battery. The new technology makes it possible to charge electric vehicles with a range of up to 520 kilometers in just five minutes.

Technological innovations of the Shenxing battery
Anyone who is faced with the decision of whether to buy a new car is faced with an important question: should it be a combustion engine or an electric car? The Shenxing battery is based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology and has been optimized in terms of charging speed and temperature resistance. By using a newly developed electrolyte and an improved separator, the resistance of the lithium-ion movement is reduced. This leads to a faster charging capacity. Another advantage of the new battery is its performance at low temperatures. Even at -10 °C, it can be charged from 5 % to 80 % in 15 minutes.
Market launch and availability
CATL plans to use the new Shenxing battery in over 67 different e-vehicle models by the end of 2025. The company already supplies major car manufacturers such as Tesla, BMW, NIO, Volkswagen and Toyota. The aim is to reduce the production costs of electric vehicles and further increase the acceptance of e-mobility by introducing this technology.
