CES 2020: Acer Presents Two New TravelMate Notebooks

At CES 2020, Acer will be presenting its latest notebooks TravelMate P6 and TravelMate P2 among many other devices. These devices are aimed more at the business sector and have 14 and 15 inch display sizes. Both notebooks are equipped with the 10th generation Intel Core i7 processor and run Windows 10 Pro.

Acer TravelMate P6: Top model with up to 23h battery life

The housing of the TravelMate P6 is made of a tough magnesium-aluminum alloy that is lighter and stronger than standard aluminum alloys. It weighs 1.1 kg and is only 16.6 millimetres thick. The battery life of 23 hours looks really convincing on paper. This also clearly shows the area of application in the business sector, because the long battery life should be a plus, especially for people who are often on business trips. At the same time, the notebook is, according to the manufacturer, charged up to 50 percent in less than 45 minutes.

With optional 4G LTE connectivity via Nano-SIM or eSIM3, you can work anywhere without WiFi. The TravelMate P6 is certified for Microsoft teams and with the four built-in microphones should provide excellent voice quality for video conferencing. Voices should be picked up from a distance of up to two meters.

As part of Intel’s new “Project Athena” innovation program, the new Windows 10 Pro notebooks feature Intel Core i7 10th generation processors, up to 24GB of DDR4 memory, up to NVIDIA GeForce TMMX250 graphics cards, and up to 1TB of responsive Gen 3×4 PCIe SSD with NVMe technology. These devices deliver plenty of power for more complex tasks, such as editing large spreadsheets or presentations.

The 180-degree hinge and matte touch display also make it easy to collaborate when using the screen collectively. Users can of course also log in via Windows Hello with the fingerprint reader integrated in the power button or via the IR webcam using biometric face recognition.

Acer TravelMate P2: High-speed connectivity

The Acer TravelMate P2 is primarily intended to support mobile workers. The ability to use not only WiFi but also 4G LTE ensures that users can work on a wide variety of tasks from anywhere. The TravelMate P2’s connectivity makes the notebook a reliable companion on the road. Intel Wireless Wi-Fi 6 is designed to provide a smooth wireless connection at speeds up to three times faster than standard Wi-Fi 5. Nano-SIM and/or eSIM-enabled 4G LTE eliminates the need to search for a hotspot.

With a battery life of up to 13 hours and a shock-resistant case, the user can use the notebook throughout the day without any problems. How well this works in practice is of course still to be determined in a test report. This device also has a fingerprint sensor built in and of course Windows Hello on board.

An Intel Core i7 processor of the 10th generation and an optional NVIDIA GeForce TMMX230 graphics processor promise high computing and graphics performance. Add to this up to 32 GB of fast DDR4 memory, a configurable dual-drive system with a 1 TB high-performance hard drive and a 512 GB 4-lane PCIe SSD.

The notebook also has several ports, including VGA, HDMI and USB Type-C. They can be easily expanded using the Acer USB Type-C dock.

Prices and availability

The TravelMate P2 series notebooks will be available from the end of January at prices starting at 879 euros. The TravelMate P6 series notebooks will be a little later. They will be available from mid-February at a price starting at 1,219 euros.
