CES 2020: Audio-Technica introduces high-priced ANC in-ears

At this year’s CES, wireless headphones also play a role that should not be underestimated. Audio-Technica, for example, presented in-ears for audiophile music lovers. With the QuietPoint ATH-ANC300TW, users should not only enjoy high-quality music enjoyment, but also reliable noise suppression. However, Audio-Technica is also making these features affordable. The new ANC in-ears are to be offered for sale at an RRP of 249 Euro when they enter the market.

Promising ANC

The QuietPoint ATH-ANC300TW is designed to provide reliable active noise cancellation. Thanks to the two microphones installed in front and behind the driver, ANC is possible. Although the QuietPoint ATH-ANC300TW offers noise cancellation, the music enjoyment is not neglected. According to Audio-Technica, the sound chamber inside the headphones has been arranged horizontally. This allows the drivers to provide a balanced sound despite the microphones. All in all, the QuietPoint ATH-ANC300TW is said to offer the perfect balance between listening pleasure and noise reduction.

Noise amplification is also possible

But the in-ears not only enable the shielding of disturbing ambient noise. Put simply, the QuietPoint ATH-ANC300TW allows users to let existing ambient noise pass through. This is particularly beneficial in places such as railway stations or airports. After all, announcements are very important and difficult to understand when noise is suppressed. This is another area where microphones are used. These initially capture the sounds. Then the QuietPoint ATH-ANC300TW drivers output the corresponding sounds.

With the corresponding charging case, the in-ears should be able to provide up to 13.5 hours of listening pleasure.

Noble technology

Although the driver is supposed to offer a lot of performance, it turns out to be comparatively small. A mere 5.8 mm is very small compared to the competition. Above all, the high-quality components around the driver are supposed to provide for the great sound. For example, the driver is encased in a membrane covered with carbon. Many advantages are thereby achieved. Not only is the weight of the driver reduced. Distortions and the reaction time are also reduced.

Supported formats

Bluetooth 5.0 is standard on the QuietPoint ATH-ANC300TW. But beyond that the in-ears are supposed to support other formats. For this the audio codec SBC increases for example. But also aptx and AAC are supported. Thus both Android and iPhone users can enjoy high-quality wireless music transmission.

The benefits of Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo Plus

A major benefit of the QuietPoint ATH-ANC300TW is support for Qualcomm’s TrueWireless Stereo Plus. This significantly reduces latency. This is especially noticeable when you want to enjoy a movie, series or YouTube on your smartphone. However, not all listeners benefit from this. Of course, the smartphone itself must have a chipset from Qualcomm.

Practical app, long battery life and many accessories

According to Audio-Technica, the QuietPoint ATH-ANC300TW will be able to play music for up to 4.5 hours continuously. A total battery life of 13.5 hours can be achieved thanks to the separate charging case. Fortunately, Audio-Technica also relies on USB-C. The cable required for this is included in the scope of delivery. But there are also other accessories available. Audio-Technica has included the right silicone insert for every conceivable size of ear canal.

The Audio-Technica Connect app allows users to easily adjust the headphone settings. The app is available for Android and iOS. Owners of the QuietPoint ATH-ANC300TW don’t have to worry about rain either. With IPX2 certification, the in-ears are protected from light rain. Anyone interested in Audio-Technica’s new noble in-ears will have to be patient until spring 2020. Then the new headphones will be launched on the German market.
