CES 2023: Lenovo Legion Y27f monitors introduced

Lenovo presented a surprisingly broad range of products at CES 2023. The Chinese tech company had everything to offer from tablets to powerful gaming PCs. For fans of the latter, the manufacturer also showed the matching gaming monitors with its Lenovo Legion Y27f-30 and Y27qf-30. Besides a QHD resolution, they are also supposed to score with 280 Hz.

Lenovo Legion Y27 for gaming and work

Although the two monitors presented by Lenovo at the tech show in the Nevada desert are assigned to the gaming brand “Legion”, they are by no means supposed to be exclusively interesting for gamers. If the manufacturer has its way, Lenovo’s Legion Y27f-30 and Y27qf-30 should rather be all-rounders. They can be used as a monitor for work during the day and as a gaming monitor for fun in the evening.

As the name suggests, both screens measure a diagonal of 27 inches. At the same time, they offer eye-friendly technologies like Eyesafe Certified 2.0 Natural Low Blue Light, which is supposed to reduce exhausting blue light. The Lenovo Legion Y27f-30 and Y27qf-30 are also unanimous in terms of design. Only a look at the technical specs makes it clear that the screens differ from each other.

Higher resolution is available on the Lenovo Legion Y27qf-30

The Lenovo Legion Y27qf-30 clearly has its focus on the sharpness of the image. Thus, the screen offers a QHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. The whole thing is paired with a refresh rate of 240 Hz and a response time of 0.5 ms. A variable refresh rate is also on board thanks to AMD FreeSync.

Adaptive Sync is also used to specifically counteract the annoying distortions of so-called tearing. Creatives will be happy about a 125 percent color space coverage of sRGB and a 95 percent coverage of DCI-P3. On top of that, the monitor not only offers two stereo speakers, but also support for VESA HDR 400, the latter promising a brightness of a good 400 hits.

Other highlights from CES 2023:

Lenovo Legion Y27f-30 is slightly weaker

On the other hand, those who prefer a lower price are probably best off with the Lenovo Legion Y27f-30. It is a bit weaker than its sibling, but still offers good rates. An IPS panel is also used here, but it “only” has a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). This model also offers a refresh rate of 240 Hz. However, it cannot only be overclocked to 250 Hz like the Lenovo Legion Y27qf-30, where up to 280 Hz is possible.

You also don’t have to do without a variable refresh rate here. AMD FreeSync and Adaptive Sync are also available here. However, there are again disadvantages in the color space coverage. This is supposed to be a bit weaker than in the higher-resolution model. The connectivity is once again in line. Besides 1x DisplayPort 1.4, they have 2x HDMI 2.0 and 4x USB-A according to Lenovo. Against back and neck pain after gaming or work provides the adjustable stand.

Prices and Availability

It is still uncertain when Lenovo Legion Y27f-30 and Y27qf-30 are to go on sale in this country. Lenovo has scheduled the US release for May 2023. The price difference between the two monitors is quite significant. The Lenovo Legion Y27f-30 is supposed to have an MSRP of $399. The Lenovo Legion Y27qf-30 on the other hand will cost $599.
