CES 2023: Lenovo Yoga 9i impresses with 4K display

At this year’s CES, Lenovo naturally had news to announce again. Among other things, this included its articulated notebooks from the Yoga series. The Lenovo Yoga 9i was one of them. It will not only be equipped with new Intel processors in 2023. On top of that, the manufacturer will add a 4K OLED panel.

Lenovo Yoga 9i wants to impress with a 4K display

The convertible market is growing and thriving. Given the practicality offered with the mix of tablet and notebook, one can certainly understand this. However, compromises had to be made in this segment for many years. Convertibles are not really known for their groundbreaking hardware. This could now change in the display category with Lenovo’s Yoga 9i. After all, the new foldable notebook from the Chinese tech company is ready to offer probably the best screen a convertible has ever had.

In the basic version, the display already resolves with razor-sharp 2,880 x 1,800 pixels. Considering the screen size of 14 inches, this should be more than enough for most people. Those who want it even sharper can alternatively opt for 3,840 x 2,400 pixels. A refresh rate of 60 Hz and a brightness of 400 nits round off the package. Regardless of the resolution, both screens rely on an OLED panel. This is extremely pleasing, since experience has shown that the high-contrast and colorful screen technology is usually accompanied by a high surcharge.

Lenovo Yoga 9i gets Intel Core i7-1360P

Under the hood, the Lenovo Yoga 9i may not be groundbreaking, but it has definitely been equipped very strongly for a convertible. The core is an Intel Core i7-1360P. It is supported by 16 GB of RAM. Lenovo provides enough storage space with either 512 GB or 1 TB SSD storage. The specified battery life also reads well.

According to benchmark measurements with MobileMark 2018, a maximum of 10 hours is possible. That should be enough for an average workday. Of course, Lenovo has also equipped its Lenovo Yoga 9i with an IR camera in the age of video conferencing. This can not only be used for the home office. On top of that, it offers a practical unlocking option with Windows Hello support.

Other highlights from CES 2023:

A handy companion at 1.4 kg

To ensure that the Lenovo Yoga 9i can be carried from A to B comfortably, it is a pleasingly thin piece of technology with a maximum of 16.5 mm. Since the 14-inch convertible weighs just 1.4 kg, it should hardly be noticed in a backpack. Not only the compact dimensions provide user comfort, but also the ports. You get a total of three USB-C ports here. Two of the three ports also offer Thunderbolt 4. The whole is rounded off with a classic USB-A port in version 3.2 and a 3.5 mm jack.

Price and availability

The Lenovo Yoga 9i is supposed to go on sale as early as February 2023. So far, Lenovo has only commented on the entry-level prices. The basic version is supposed to cost 1,999 Euros. You will probably have to expect a not insignificant surcharge for 4K resolution.
