CES 2025: NVIDIA unveils GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 (Ti)

NVIDIA presented its latest graphics card series, the GeForce RTX 50 series, at CES 2025. This includes the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 models and promises significant performance improvements through the use of advanced AI technologies. The new GPUs are based on the Blackwell architecture and are intended to set new standards for both gamers and creative professionals.

Advanced AI integration and DLSS 4

A key feature of the new series is the integration of DLSS 4, an AI-powered technology that significantly increases frame rates using Multi Frame Generation. By using AI, up to three additional frames are generated per rendered frame, which enables an eight-fold increase in performance compared to conventional rendering methods. In addition, Transformer-based models are used in real time for the first time, ensuring more stable images, less ghosting and greater detail accuracy.

Improved hardware specifications

The RTX 5090 has an impressive 92 billion transistors and offers over 3,352 trillion AI operations per second, making it the fastest GeForce RTX GPU to date. The entire series is equipped with GDDR7 memory, which offers higher efficiency and performance compared to GDDR6x. The GPUs also support PCIe Gen 5 and DisplayPort 2.1b, ensuring compatibility with modern systems.

Another exciting feature is the GeForce RTX 5070, which is said to be on a par with the current top model RTX 4090 in terms of performance. The RTX 5070 comes with 12GB GDDR7 VRAM, 192-bit memory connection and 6,144 CUDA cores, with a TGP of 250 watts.

DLSS 4: Revolutionary AI technology for smooth gaming and impressive graphics

With DLSS 4, NVIDIA is setting new standards in graphics technology by taking image quality and performance to a whole new level. The groundbreaking AI technology debuts in the GeForce RTX 50 series and combines innovative approaches such as Multi Frame Generation and Transformer-based models to deliver a more stable, detailed and fluid gaming experience.

Multi Frame Generation: Up to 8x performance boost

DLSS 4 introduces Multi Frame Generation, which uses AI to generate up to three additional frames for each rendered frame. This technology works together with the proven DLSS suite and enables a performance increase of up to 8x compared to conventional rendering methods. Gamers not only benefit from higher frame rates, but also from the same low input lag guaranteed by NVIDIA Reflex.

NVIDIA Reflex 2 also introduces a new feature called Frame Warp. This innovative process reduces latency by updating a rendered image based on the latest input just before output. Reflex 2 can reduce lag by up to 75%, providing noticeable benefits in both multiplayer and single-player titles.

Transformer-based models for realistic graphics

DLSS 4 is the first technology in the gaming industry to use Transformer models in real time. These advanced AI models use twice as many parameters and four times more processing power than previous DLSS versions. This results in impressive graphics stability, which is characterized by:

  • Reduced ghosting,
  • Increased detail fidelity,
  • Improved edge smoothing and
  • Realistic scene reconstruction.

The combination of DLSS Ray Reconstruction and Super Resolution provides an immersive gaming experience and takes visual quality in games to a whole new level. On launch day, DLSS 4 will be supported in over 75 games and applications.

Pricing and availability

The RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 will be available from January 30, 2025, while the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 will follow in February. Pricing starts at $549 for the RTX 5070 and ranges up to $1,999 for the RTX 5090. With these models, NVIDIA is setting new standards in graphics performance and offering both gamers and creatives powerful tools for their applications
