Anthropic is significantly expanding the capacities of its AI assistant Claude in response to the rapidly increasing demand for generative AI for development, business and productivity. Claude Code users in particular will benefit from the changes: The previous five-hour limits will be doubled for most fee-based tariffs. In addition, certain restrictions will no longer apply during peak times. At the same time, Anthropic is also drastically increasing API limits and investing heavily in new computing power through partnerships with SpaceX, Amazon and Google.

  • Claude Code doubles the usage limits for Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans
  • Restrictions during peak times no longer apply for Pro and Max users
  • API limits increase by up to 1500 percent depending on tariff
  • New computing capacity through SpaceX Colossus data center with over 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs

Claude Code receives significantly higher limits for developers and companies

With the current expansion, Anthropic is responding to the growing demand for AI-supported development tools. Claude Code in particular, which is specifically geared towards programming, code analysis and technical workflows, is receiving an extensive upgrade in terms of usage limits.

According to Anthropic, the previous five-hour limits for almost all paid plans will be doubled. Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise subscriptions will benefit from this. Only the free plan will remain unchanged. At the same time, the company is removing the previous “peak hours” restrictions for Pro and Max users. As a result, Claude Code should remain more stable and reliable even during busy periods.

Such changes are particularly relevant in the developer environment, as AI-supported coding tools are increasingly being used for complex projects, debugging, automation and documentation. Previously, usage limits and peak times sometimes led to interruptions during longer sessions or intensive API usage.

Anthropic is also massively expanding its API capacities. The increase is particularly noticeable for Tier 1 accesses. According to the company, the maximum number of incoming tokens per minute has increased by 1500 percent, while the output capacity has increased by 900 percent. Higher API tiers are also receiving significant expansions.

This development seems plausible, as competition in the AI market is increasingly focusing on performance, scalability and availability. Providers such as OpenAI, Google and Anthropic have long since stopped competing solely on model quality, but also on stable infrastructure and high user capacities for companies.

SpaceX, NVIDIA and new data centers continue to drive Claude forward

The higher limits are primarily made possible by massively expanded computing capacities. Anthropic has confirmed a new partnership with SpaceX to provide additional infrastructure for Claude. The entire compute capacity of the Colossus 1 data center will be used.

According to the published information, the data center operates with over 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs and delivers a total of around 300 megawatts of power. These resources are intended to directly improve capacity for Claude Pro and Max subscribers.

In addition, Anthropic continues to use infrastructure from Amazon, Google, Broadcom and other technology partners. The long-term perspective of the cooperation with SpaceX is also interesting. The company has stated that joint projects in the field of orbital AI data centers with several gigawatts of capacity are even being examined in the future.

At the same time, Anthropic is expanding more strongly into Europe and Asia in order to better serve corporate customers in particular. The background to this is likely to be the growing demand for locally available AI services and shorter response times. European companies in particular are paying increasing attention to data protection, regional infrastructure and stable cloud capacities.

For developers and companies, the expansion primarily means more scope for complex AI workflows. Higher API limits and more stable availability could make Claude more attractive for productive coding environments in particular.

Conclusion

Anthropic is significantly expanding Claude Code and the Claude API in response to the growing demand for powerful AI tools. Doubled usage limits, the elimination of peak hour restrictions and massive infrastructure upgrades strengthen Claude’s position in competition with other AI platforms. Developers and enterprise customers in particular are likely to benefit from the higher capacities. The changes apply to most fee-based tariffs with immediate effect.
