CloudBoxx: Modular 8-in-1 desktop hub launches on Kickstarter
Honestly, modern notebooks (and sometimes desktop PCs) usually have far too few ports these days. A hub is a practical solution to expand the connectivity options. With CloudBoxx, an exciting modular 8-in-1 desktop hub is now launching on Kickstarter.
CloudBoxx: What’s inside the modular 8-in-1 desktop hub
Most people are probably familiar with the typical USB or Thunderbolt hubs. Extremely practical to expand the limited selection of ports on modern notebooks or to provide more and better accessible ports on a desktop PC.
With the CloudBoxx, an exciting USB hub is now launching on Kickstarter, but it can do much more. Sure: On the one hand, the modular 8-in-1 desktop hub, which comes in a slim, white case, brings along a whole 16 ports.
On the front, there are two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gbit/s), one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A and one Gen 1, as well as card readers for microSD and SD cards and a 3.5 mm jack. On the rear, there are four HDMI 2.0 ports, which all enable 4K resolutions, two with 60 Hz and two with 30 Hz. The whole thing is rounded off by an RJ-45 network port and a USB-C port with 100 watts of PowerDelivery on the sides.
So that’s quite a lot already. But what makes the CloudBoxx so special is its modular design, because you can easily expand the hub at the top and bottom and add additional modules.

The CloudBoxx’s modular design
So you can add additional 10-watt wireless charging pads to the CloudBoxx, which can charge up to three devices. Also added are a Bluetooth speaker with a dust-proof design and touch controls, or a small LED light that can function as a bedside table or ambient light.
Other modules include, for example, a card holder with seven angled compartments, a pen holder that holds up to 10 pens, pencils or the like, or even a flower pot for a bit of greenery in your office, living room or wherever you use the hub. So a whole range of possibilities to use the modular hub.
Price and Availability
The CloudBoxx is currently funded on crowdfunding website Kickstarter. There are still 19 days left in the campaign. 254 backers have already contributed around 28,000 euros, which means the original goal of 4,714 euros has long been exceeded.
You have to pay at least 94 euros or 99 US dollars to secure the CloudBoxx in the Super Early Bird offer. Alternatively, there are also bundles of two or even five of these desktop hubs. All modules are already included in the price.
The manufacturer’s RRP is otherwise 189 US dollars, which corresponds to a discount of 48 percent. The worldwide delivery is supposed to start in March 2023.
