Corsair K70 RGB TKL OPX: Professional keyboard with optical-mechanical switches

The K70 series from Corsair just can’t be killed. The various models have enjoyed enormous popularity for several years. Most recently, they presented a new edition with the Corsair K70 RGB Pro, which shined in our test. With the new Corsair K70 RGB TKL OPX, you can now expect a more compact model that relies on new hyper-fast CORSAIR OPX optical-mechanical key switches.

Corsair K70 RGB TKL OPX in detail

The new Corsair K70 RGB TKL OPX wants to set “new standards for gaming keyboards at e-sports level”, according to the manufacturer. That this ambitious goal is definitely achievable has been proven time and again with the K70 series over the past few years.

However, they have come up with a few exciting tricks for the new model. First and foremost, the new CORSAIR OPX optical-mechanical key switches. They offer an unbelievably small actuation distance of only 1.0 mm and are supposed to allow extremely fast and precise inputs.

The smooth-running switches are linear and thus offer feedback that gamers prefer. In addition, each switch is guaranteed for an incredible 150 million keystrokes, so in terms of longevity, the keyboard is in an excellent position.

Of course, the latest K70 family member again uses the proven, robust aluminum frame. Thanks to the compact Tenkeyless profile and a detachable USB Type-C cable, the keyboard is also perfect for on the go.

PBT double-shot keycaps

The high-quality build quality of the Corsair K70 RGB TKL OPX doesn’t stop at the frame, though. For example, it relies on durable PBT double-shot keycaps that are particularly well protected against wear and fading. They should look and feel like new even after years of use.

As with the Corsair K70 RGB Pro, the new model relies on a hyper-polling rate of 8,000 Hz, transmitting keystrokes eight times faster than most normal gaming keyboards.

Also making a comeback is the Tournament Switch on the back, which allows you to set the backlight to a static color and disable macros immediately after flipping the switch.

On the other hand, those who are not currently active in a professional tournament will be pleased with the RGB backlighting of the individual keys and their comprehensive customization via the CORSAIR iCUE software. In addition, the TKL OPX offers dedicated media keys, an aluminum volume wheel, and data storage for up to 50 onboard profiles.

Price and Availability

The Corsair K70 RGB TKL OPX compact gaming keyboard is now available worldwide. The manufacturer’s MSRP is 169.99 euros. For more details, check out the official Corsair product website.
