Premiere at Corsair: With the Corsair Voyager a1600 AMD Advantage Edition, the manufacturer has introduced its first gaming and streaming laptop. The a1600 combines a unique and chic design with no less impressive hardware features.
The Corsair Voyager a1600 in detail
With the high-end Corsair Voyager a1600 notebook, the manufacturer brings an impressive device to the start. This already starts with the design. Between the keyboard and the display is a bar that was developed together with Elgato and is aimed at streamers.
It includes ten easily accessible, customizable S-Key shortcut buttons that are supported by the Elgato Stream Deck software. These are used, for example, to start streaming at the touch of a button. There is also a battery level indicator in the center.
The notebook turns out quite slim with 19.9 mm. Overall, the a1600 has dimensions of 356 mm × 286.7 mm × 19.9 mm and weighs around 2.4 kg. Nevertheless, Corsair installs a 16-inch QHD+ IPS display in 16:10 format with a resolution of 2560×1600 and a maximum refresh rate of 240 Hz including AMD FreeSync Premium.
Creators can also look forward to a full HD webcam with a maximum of 30 frames per second including privacy shutter and a directional 4-microphone array with ambient noise cancellation.
Hardware and technology
For the highest possible gaming performance, the Corsair Voyager a1600 relies entirely on AMD. Thus, the CPU used is either the AMD Ryzen 7 6800HS with 8 cores, 16 threads and a clock speed of 4.4 GHz or the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS with a clock speed of 4.8 GHz.
As a graphics card, the notebook uses the AMD Radeon RX 6800M, which is supported by 32 GB or 64 GB of DDR5 RAM from the Corsair Vengeance series and 1 TB or 2 TB of PCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe SSD storage, depending on the model.
For cooling the components, the Voyager a1600 uses a compact vapor chamber cooling system that distributes heat evenly and ensures low temperatures.
Typing and gaming is done on a high-quality mechanical keyboard that relies on CHERRY MX ultra-low profile switches along with RGB backlighting. It even allows individual keys to be illuminated with ultra-bright, energy-efficient CAPELLIX LEDs that can be adjusted via the Corsair iCUE software.
Of course, such a high-end notebook should not be short on ports. Here, the Corsair Voyager a1600 offers two USB-C ports including Thunderbolt 3, one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C, one USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A, an SDXC 7.0 card reader and a 3.5 mm combo audio port. An integrated receiver connects to up to three Corsair Slipstream Wireless peripherals for a strong, stable signal without taking up USB ports. Wirelessly, the notebook communicates via Wi-Fi 6E (WLAN 802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.2.
