CORSAIR is further expanding its ecosystem with the XENEON EDGE 14.5″ LCD touchscreen and is now officially opening the platform to widgets from the community. New applications can now be downloaded directly from the Elgato Marketplace and integrated into the iCUE software. This gives the display significantly more functions – from system monitoring and live data to individual tools for gaming, streaming and productivity. What’s particularly exciting is that you will be able to create your own widgets even without in-depth programming knowledge.

  • New widgets for the CORSAIR XENEON EDGE now available in the Elgato Marketplace
  • Over 20 free widgets to start with, including system monitoring, RSS reader and countdown timer
  • Own widgets can be developed more easily in future and integrated directly into iCUE
  • Community approach to significantly expand the platform in the long term

CORSAIR XENEON EDGE receives open widget platform

With the new integration into the Elgato Marketplace, CORSAIR is pursuing a clear platform approach. Instead of providing functions exclusively via major software updates, new widgets can now be distributed flexibly via the Marketplace. This allows the range to grow faster and more independently of traditional release cycles.

The XENEON EDGE itself is primarily aimed at users who want to display additional information or control options directly on a separate touchscreen. The new widget support significantly broadens the field of application. More than 20 free widgets are already available at launch. These include live sports results, network ping monitoring, countdown timers, RSS feeds and a digital note and sketch board.

Of particular interest is the direct integration into the iCUE software from version 5.44. New widgets can be downloaded and installed with just a few clicks. Previously, new functions were permanently linked to software updates and had to be implemented internally by CORSAIR. Now the process is more like installing a plugin or RGB profile.

Customizability also plays a central role. Widgets can be positioned individually and tailored to your own requirements. As a result, the XENEON EDGE is increasingly becoming a modular information and control center for gaming setups, streaming desks or productive workstations.

Creating your own widgets should be easier than ever

Another focus is on opening up to developers and creative community members. According to CORSAIR and Elgato, even beginners should be able to create simple widgets within a few hours. This is supported by documentation on the Elgato developer platform and modern AI-supported coding tools.

This could result in very different types of widgets in the future – such as applications for monitoring smart home data, driving times, air quality or special gaming statistics. This will give the community significantly more creative freedom than before.

Elgato refers to the development of the Stream Deck, which has evolved from a simple control device into a comprehensive platform thanks to community extensions. A similar development could now be in store for the XENEON EDGE. The touchscreen approach in particular opens up new possibilities for interactive widgets and dynamic user interfaces.

The strategy of linking existing CORSAIR and Elgato ecosystems more closely together seems particularly plausible. The Marketplace already offers numerous digital extensions such as OBS scenes, audio effects and stream deck plug-ins. The addition of XENEON EDGE widgets therefore appears to be the logical next step within the existing software ecosystem.

Conclusion

By opening up the XENEON EDGE to community widgets, CORSAIR is making the 14.5-inch touchscreen much more flexible and attractive in the long term. The direct integration into the Elgato Marketplace considerably simplifies the installation, management and distribution of new functions. The combination of iCUE connection, community content and simple widget development in particular could strengthen the platform in the long term.
