Craob X: 7 mm thin notebook comes without any ports at all

Just 7 mm thick and 860 grams is the Craob X notebook that the manufacturer, the startup company Craob Inc., has now officially presented. Even an Alder Lake P CPU is supposed to work in this extremely thin case. However, you have to do without ports in this thickness.

Craob X comes with Intel Alder Lake, but without ports

The “world’s first port-less notebook” has been officially presented by the startup company Craob Inc. with the Craob X . The notebook only has a thickness of 7 mm and is only 860 grams light due to the omission of all ports.

Nevertheless, the technical specifications read more than appealing. Thus, the startup promises the use of an Alder Lake CPU up to Intel Core i7-1280P, Iris Xe graphics and up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. A 2TB PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD and WiFi 6E are also part of the package.

The question is how such a powerful CPU can be realized without active cooling. The company is also silent about the size of the installed battery so far, but that is another matter altogether.

The Craob X also has a 13.3-inch display with a 4K IPS panel, which almost completely lacks screen edges and is strongly rounded towards the corners. The notebook also offers a webcam, which is housed in a centrally placed punch hole.

Craob X without ports? How are the ports made?

In order to be able to realize such a slim notebook without ports, the Craob X resorts to a trick. On the one hand, buyers are supposed to use cloud services for additional storage.

On the other hand, the X comes with a dock that also serves as a power supply for the notebook. It is magnetically attached to the notebook’s lid and supplies the device with power wirelessly. There are also various ports, such as HDMI, two Thunderbolt ports (USB-C), USB-A, 3.5 mm jack and an SD card reader.

The manufacturer also does not reveal how the data is transferred from the dock to the notebook. It is also unclear whether there will be other additional devices like a docking station in the future, since standard solutions with USB ports cannot be used on the Craob X.

Craob Inc. plans to announce more details, a release date and pricing information “soon.”
