Creative Outlier Free: Headphones with bone sound technology

Creative has presented new sports headphones. The Creative Outlier Free are aimed at all athletes who don’t fancy over-ear, on-ear or in-ear headphones. Instead, the pair of headphones relies on bone-conduction technology, which is becoming increasingly popular. Add to that good-sounding features like protection from water and dirt, wearing comfort, and long battery life.

Creative Outlier Free rely on bone conduction

The new Creative Outlier Free might look familiar to fans of the Singapore brand. At least that’s true of the name. After all, the consumer electronics expert already brought out other models under the Outlier series. Now, the Outlier Free is a somewhat different headphone that wants to live up to its nickname “Free”. After all, your ears are neither covered with ear pads here, nor “stuffed” with a headphone.

Instead, thanks to bone conduction technology, you’ll enjoy complete freedom where your ears remain entirely free. This particular technology doesn’t rely on traditional speakers to deliver sound to your ear canal. Instead, sound waves and vibrations are emitted to your cheekbones. The corresponding sound then reaches your inner ear via the bone vibrations. This is not only supposed to be the perfect solution for those who find in-ears and over- or on-ears simply too uncomfortable.

On top of that, the technology is supposed to make outdoor sports safer. After all, thanks to the free ears, one should be able to reliably perceive one’s surroundings, which is a great advantage especially in road traffic. Creative also sees other areas of application. For example, in karaoke singing. Since you can listen to the music in combination with your own voice with the Outlier Free, this should ensure a natural sound. Thus, the exciting headphones can probably deliver away from sports.

IPX5 meets 10 hours of battery life

The features of the Creative Outlier Free are also quite impressive. In particular, the long battery life of up to 10 hours with only one charge scores points. Thanks to the quick-charge function, you should be able to provide another 2 hours of playback time within 10 minutes of charging. So that the sporty headphones are also immune to sweat and rain, they also offer protection against damaging water penetration according to IPX5.

Fast wireless connections to smartphones and other source devices are no problem thanks to Bluetooth 5.3. It is said to be possible to connect up to two devices simultaneously with the help of multipoint connectivity. The casing made of silicone and titanium alloy is not only supposed to be light as a feather, but also provide the necessary resistance. The use of the voice assistants Siri and Google Assistant as well as phone calls should be possible without any problems thanks to the built-in microphone.

Price and availability

The bone-sound technology should definitely appeal to headphone muffleers who just can’t warm up to over-, on- and in-ear models. If this appeals to you, too, you can get the Creative Outlier Free now for the promotional price of 89.99 euros on the official website.
