D-Link discontinues two of its cloud services for older devices

Two cloud services of older smart home devices of the Taiwanese manufacturer D-Link will be discontinued. Currently, one informs customers via email about the planned shutdown on December 30, 2022.

D-Link discontinues cloud services mydlink Home and Baby Monitor

At the end of 2022, D-Link’s two cloud services, mydlink Home and mydlink Baby Monitor, will be completely shut down. This is according to an email that the manufacturer currently sends to owners of corresponding smart home devices. However, other apps and services of the provider will still be able to be used in full.

Affected devices, which require the use of cloud services, will therefore no longer function fully from 2023. Logging in via the two apps will then no longer be possible, D-Link informs.

Services included in them, such as a remote display, remote management and remote setup, will be discontinued for connected products. The two apps mydlink Baby Monitor and mydlink Home will still be available for download in the Google Play Store as well as Apple’s App Store until the end of 2022, after which they will be removed.

Affected models

Models affected by the cloud services shutdown would no longer be offered for free sale, according to D-Link. However, it could be that some remaining stocks are currently still being sold off, which is why those affected should check again to see if their D-Link smart home device is affected by the shutdown.

Anyone who purchased an affected device last year, for example, should contact customer service, according to a statement from the manufacturer. According to D-Link, the reason for the shutdown of the cloud services is security concerns.

In the future, the company wants to focus on the development of products and solutions that comply with current security regulations and offer customers the highest level of security.

The following D-Link devices are affected by the shutdown:

  • mydlink Home DCS-935LH, DCS-8200LH, DCS-5010L, DCS-5025L, DCS-935L, DSP-W110, DSP-W215, DSP-W115, DCH-S150, DCH-S160, DCH-G020, DCH-Z510, DCH-Z112, DCH-G022, DCH-Z122, DCH-Z110, DCH-S220, DCH-Z120, DCH-Z310
