Dacia Spring Electric 65: Electric SUV comes with more kW and less range

Dacia has unveiled a new electric SUV at the Brussels Motor Show. The new Dacia Spring Electric 65 offers a more powerful engine, but does not quite reach the range of its predecessor.

Dacia Spring Electric 65: What’s inside the new city e-SUV

At the Brussels Motor Show, Dacia unveiled a new edition of the Dacia Spring Electric 65 e-SUV, which the manufacturer says has already sold around 100,000 units. New here is the “Exteme” equipment variant with a striking look, which will also be offered for the Sandero, Duster and Jogger in the future.

The new “Extreme” trim replaces the Expression option package, which nine out of ten Spring buyers in Germany have opted for so far.

The Dacia Spring Extreme Electric 65 is also available exclusively for the range in the new color “Slate Blue” and features exclusive design features. These include copper-colored accents on the roof rails, the housings of the rear-view mirrors, the wheel hubs the Dacia logo on the tailgate and below the headlights.

“In addition, there are patterns in the style of a topographical map on the front doors, as well as decorative elements in the style of the vertical protectors with implied air outlet between the doors and fenders on the Duster,” so says the manufacturer.

This map graphic is also used in the interior, for example on the door sills, as well as on the sturdy floor mats. The color scheme is also in line with the exterior design, with copper-colored elements on the interior front door panels, the air vents and the central control unit.

New ELECTRIC 65 engine with more power

The Dacia Spring Electric 65 is also equipped with a new engine called ELECTRIC 65, which produces 64 hp or 48 kW. Electricity consumption is said to be 14.5 kWh per 100 km according to WLTP. Reserved exclusively for the Spring Extreme, the powertrain is coupled with a new transmission that increases the torque transmitted to the drive wheels while enabling better acceleration and more effective recuperation.

This realizes a range of 220 kilometers in the WLTP mixed cycle and 305 kilometers in the WLTP city cycle. That is around 20 kilometers less than in the case of the previous models. The entry-level Electric 45 engine with 45 hp or 33 kW will continue to be available in the Essential trim level.

Nothing changes in terms of charging. Charging takes place via alternating current with 6.4 kW charging power and in a total of five hours. A maximum of 30 kW is possible at a fast charger.

Price and availability

The Dacia Spring Electric 65 can be pre-ordered in Germany from January 17, 2023. It starts at a price of 24,550 euros. The Spring Essential Electric 45 will then be available from 22,750 euros. Delivery is then scheduled for summer 2023.
