Deezer price increase: audio streaming service adjusts prices, offers HiFi

Netflix, DAZN and now Deezer: streaming services have been raising prices lately. The audio streaming provider is not immune to this either. A Deezer price increase went into effect on February 15. It is the first adjustment in over 10 years, for this there is also an additional HiFi option for audio enthusiasts.

Deezer price increase with HiFi option included

Music streaming service Deezer is raising its prices, becoming the first provider in Germany to cross the magic threshold of 9.99 euros a month. As Deezer CEO Jeronimo Folgueira revealed in advance to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), the price increase has symbolic power. Competitors such as Spotify, Amazon Music Unlimited, Tidal and YouTube Music Premium currently charge around 10 euros per month for a single subscription, but price increases are also to be expected here.

But don’t worry: You won’t have to dig much deeper into your pocket for a Deezer subscription. The prices for the Premium and Student plans will be raised by 1 euro each, bringing them to 10.99 euros per month. The Family rate will increase by 2 euros in Germany and 3 euros in Austria. In Germany, we will thus end up with 16.99 euros per month.

Students will pay EUR 5.99 per month in future. The ad-financed, free Deezer Free model will remain in place. Included in the price for all new customers is the HiFi service, which was previously available separately at extra cost. It offers music streaming in CD quality with FLAC 16-bit at 44.1 kHz.

The new subscription pricing structure from February 15 including HiFi sound:

• Premium: 10.99 EUR/month. (previously 9,99 EUR/month)
• Student: 5.99 EUR/mth. (previously 4.99 EUR/month)
• Family in DE: 16.99 EUR/mth. (previously 14.99 EUR/month)
• Family in AT: 17,99 EUR/mth. (previously 14.99 EUR/mth)

Offer for existing customers

Those who already have a Deezer Premium subscription can continue to use it at the previous price. However, the HiFi option must be waived. If desired, however, existing Premium, Family and Student subscribers who would also like to use the HiFi offer in the future can switch to the new model at any time.

If Deezer HiFi has already been added, however, the monthly fee of around 5 euros will continue to be charged, as there is currently no automatic switch to the new subscription model. HiFi customers should therefore contact the customer support of Deezer as soon as possible or send an email to the support to change to the new model.

Save with the annual subscription

Despite the Deezer price hike, the audio streaming service continues to offer a whopping 25 percent discount if you want to commit to the subscription for a year right away. The annual subscription now costs 98.90 euros, which corresponds to a monthly price of 8.24 euros. New customers also have the option of testing Deezer Premium or Family for 3 months free of charge.

Deezer is now available on a variety of devices and includes a music catalog that contains around 90 million songs. This is joined by additional playlists, podcasts, audio books and radio stations. The service also offers innovative features such as the personalized Soundtrack Flow, the music recognition tool SongCatcher, and the lyrics display.
