Dell introduces new OptiPlex devices: Including an AiO PC and compact mini PC

To celebrate the 30th birthday of Dell’s OptiPlex product line, the manufacturer is expanding its portfolio of commerical desktops with a whole new set of devices. And wants to have created thereby, according to own statement, the safest and most intelligent PCs of the world.

Dell OptiPlex: An overview of the new products

The new lineup of Dell OptiPlex devices is said to be easier to use and offer a whole new level of performance and smart features. For example, the new products are powered by 13th-generation Intel Core processors and are no longer divided into different series or model numbers.

The designations 3, 5 or 7 will thus be dropped. At the same time, the management of the systems should become easier, since the devices will have one and the same BIOS. This should be able to save the IT department valuable time.

Added to this are modern security functions that should help IT identify and respond to potential future risks. Thanks to SafeID, for example, advanced and important authentication data is securely stored on a dedicated security chip.

But sustainability is not neglected either: the new Dell OptiPlex desktops are made from around 60 percent recycled plastic, while the desktops’ chassis are additionally made from at least 10 percent recycled steel.

What are the new Dell OptiPlex PCs?

Among the new products in the Dell OptiPlex lineup, for example, is the new all-in-one PC, which comes with a 24-inch display. It is even powered by an Intel Core i9 processor and comes with up to 64 GB of DDR5 working memory. In addition, there is a retractable Full HD webcam with a second IR camera for window login.

The OptiPlex Micro comes with the same maximum equipment, which means it also relies on a Core i9 with 64 GB DDR5 RAM. A new feature this year is the power supply via a USB-C cable with a maximum of 35 watts. In combination with a USB-C monitor, the power supply, image and data transfer is thus carried out via a single cable.

Slightly larger, but with more ports, is the OptiPlex Small Form Factor, whose Core i9 can even have up to 128 GB of DD5 RAM at its side. The OptiPlex Tower, on the other hand, is the biggest desktop PC in the series and has a Core i9 with a TDP of 125 watts, as well as the latest high-end graphics cards from NVIDIA, in addition to up to 128 GB DDR5 RAM at its peak – but Dell doesn’t go into further detail here.

According to the spec sheet, however, the maximum choice is between the RTX 3070 with 8 GB GDDR6 VRAM or the AMD Radeon RX6500 with 4 GB GDDR6 VRAM.

Prices and Availability

The four new Dell OptiPlex PCs will be available in stores starting March 23, 2023. The OptiPlex Micro will start at an MSRP of $1,090, while the OptiPlex Small Form Factor will hit at least $1,115. The MSRP for the Dell OptiPlex Tower starts at $1,215, while the OptiPlex AiO PC will cost at least $1,591.
