With the new Dell UltraSharp U3023E monitor, the manufacturer takes a different approach and relies on a 16:10 form factor with a resolution of 2,560 × 1,600 pixels instead of an ultra-wide display.
Dell UltraSharp U3023E with WQXGA display
The 30-inch Dell UltraSharp U3023E relies on a WQXGA resolution of 2,560 × 1,600 pixels and therefore comes in at 160 pixels more vertically in the 16:10 format than in the classic WQHD format of 16:9.
Thus, it achieves a viewing point density of 101 ppi. It thus succeeds Dell’s UP3017, which was already released in 2016. Otherwise, the U3023E offers 10-bit color depth, 95 percent DCI-P3 and 100 percent sRGB color space coverage.
Dell relies on an IPS panel with high viewing angle stability and a refresh rate of 60 Hz, as well as a response time of 5 milliseconds. Therefore, the monitor is only suitable for gaming use to a limited extent. The brightness is specified with up to 400 cd/m², and the contrast ratio is said to be a typical 1,000:1.
Slim edges, high ergonomics
The Dell UltraSharp U3023E relies on an “Edge-to-Edge View” display, which comes with particularly narrow display edges. The monitor leaves hardly anything to be desired in terms of ergonomics. Besides height adjustment and tilt, a pivot function is also offered.
DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 1.4, USB-A and USB-C, including DisplayPort Alt Mode, are available. Another DisplayPort port is used to connect a second display, while the second USB-C port enables a power supply of up to 90 watts, for example to charge notebooks directly on the monitor.
There is also a KVM switch, thanks to which connected mouse and keyboard can be used with two devices simultaneously, and an RJ45 Ethernet port. At the bottom of the screen, there are also two additional ports on the front left in the form of another USB-A and USB-C port.
Price and Availability
The Dell UltraSharp U3023E is available in stores now. The manufacturer’s MSRP is $1,050, but first retailers in Germany list the new monitor starting at 913 euros.
