Dell XPS 13 Plus: Futuristic notebook with invisible trackpad available

The manufacturer presented the Dell XPS 13 Plus, a stylish and simple notebook at CES 2022. Now it is finally available in stores. Special features are an invisible trackpad and a touch-sensitive touch bar. But the features are also impressive.

The design of the 13-inch Dell XPS 13 Plus is particularly striking. Thus, the notebook offers an invisible trackpad that does not protrude from the body below the keyboard. The function keys above the number row, including the escape key, are touch-sensitive LEDs.

The particularly flat keys of the slim ultrabook also catch the eye directly. With dimensions of 295.3 mm x 199.04 mm x 15.28 mm (width x depth x height), the XPS 13 Plus turns out very compact and only weighs around 1.2 kg – depending on the display.

An Intel Core i5-1240P CPU (12 cores, up to 4.4 GHz) or a Core i7-1260P (12 cores, up to 4.7 GHz) is optionally offered. You can choose between 8 GB, 16 GB or 32 GB LPDDR5 RAM with a clock rate of 5,200 MHz for the working memory. Storage is on 512 GB, 1 TB or 2 TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD.

Strong displays, few ports

When it comes to the display, the Dell XPS 13 Plus offers a choice of four options: a Full HD+ panel with 60 Hz without touch function, a corresponding counterpart with touchscreen, a 3.5-K OLED panel (3,456 x 2,160 pixels) with 60 Hz, or purely UHD+ panel (3,840 x 2,400 pixels) with 60 Hz. The last two models are also equipped with a touchscreen.

The notebook is available in Platinum and Graphite, and Windows 11 Pro is already preinstalled. In addition, there is a 720p webcam and a 2-way stereo speaker system. The XPS 13 Plus communicates wirelessly via Intel Killer WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

However, you have to accept compromises in terms of connectivity. There are only two Thunderbolt 4 ports, nothing else. The manufacturer does not even provide the ultrabook with a jack. Especially since one of the ports is already occupied by the power supply.

Prices and availability

The Dell XPS 13 Plus is now available in the manufacturer’s webshop. It starts at a price of 1,724.30 Euros. In the top configuration, the model is priced at 2,705.10 Euros.
