Dell XPS 15, XPS 17 and XPS Desktop announced

Dell Technologies has introduced a new model generation of the “eXtreme Performance System” devices. Among them are the two notebooks Dell XPS 15 and Dell XPS 17, as well as the desktop PC Dell XPS Desktop, which come with many improvements.

Dell XPS 15: Performance meets mobility

The new Dell XPS 15, which bridges the gap between performance and mobility, makes the start. The notebook is equipped with the latest 13th generation Intel processors, RTX-40 series graphics cards from NVIDIA, and fast DDR5 RAM.

The laptop relies on a 16:10 InfinityEdge OLED touch display, which is protected by robust Corning Gorilla Glass 6. It offers a screen diagonal of 15.6 inches and has a very high resolution of 3156 x 2160 pixels. With a screen-to-body ratio of 92.9 percent, the display appears almost bezel-less and is also said to feature high color accuracy.

The Dell XPS 15 also wants to convince in terms of sound. The manufacturer promises studio-quality sound thanks to two subwoofers and two tweeters, with Waves MaxxAudio Pro and Waves Nx 3D ready for tuning.

Dell XPS 17 wants to provide maximum performance

The Dell XPS 17 is intended to provide maximum performance for the most power-hungry projects. It also uses the latest 13th-generation Intel processors, NVIDIA RTX-40 graphics cards, and DDR5 memory.

There are different configurations of CPU (up to Intel Core i9k), GPU (up to NVIDIA RTX 4080) as well as RAM (up to 64 gigabytes) to choose from, which equips the laptop for demanding image and video editing.

The InfinityEdge Touch display has a 4K UHD resolution (3,840 x 2,400 pixels) and measures 17 inches. In addition, the screen-to-body ratio is even higher at 93.7%, which means that the larger display fits into a 15-inch case.

Like the XPS 15, the chassis of the XPS 17 is also made of aluminum, carbon fiber, and the display is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 6. Especially interesting is the quite low build height of 19.5 millimeters, which is realized by a novel cooling system.

“The patented “Dual Opposite Outlet” technology provides a double-sided airflow that increases air circulation in the case and thus cooling performance,” Dell explains. Of course, high-quality quad speakers are also used here, which should ensure a convincing sound.

Dell XPS Desktop: The gaming-ready performance PC

Dell also has a treat in store for stationary desktop users in the form of the Dell XPS Desktop. It is also primarily aimed at professional image and video editing scenarios and is equipped with current 13th generation Intel processors up to Core i9k and graphics cards from NVIDIA’s RTX-40 series (up to RTX 4090) as well as AMD’s Radeon graphics cards (up to 6900 XT). In addition, there is fast DDR5 working memory.

All of this is combined in a minimalistic, simple case that is primarily designed for future-proofing, cooling performance and quiet operation. The graphite-gray or platinum-colored tower offers enough space for additional hardware.

Besides pure cooling via fans, there is also the option to run the XPS Desktop with water cooling. Both variants additionally benefit from the redesign of the air-permeable front cover.

Prices and availability

The Dell XPS 15 will launch with i9 processor, 32 gigabytes of DDR5 RAM, 1 terabyte SSD drive, OLED display, and NVIDIA RTX 4070 on March 07, 2023, while the Dell XPS 17 with Intel i9 processor, 32 gigabytes of DDR5 RAM, 1 terabyte SSD drive, 4K+ display, and NVIDIA RTX 4070 will also be available at the same time. More configurations are scheduled for release in spring 2023.

The XPS Desktop will be available starting February 28 with 13th-generation Intel processors and NVIDIA RTX 4080/4090 graphics cards, with more configurations to follow here in mid-2023.

The prices should be available on the manufacturer’s homepage for availability. Currently, only the XPS Desktop is listed there, which starts at 1,399 Euros with an integrated Intel UHD 770 graphics unit. If you add an RTX 4080, the price is already 2,999.00 Euros.
