You are not a fan of surprises and annoyed by unexpected letters? Then Deutsche Post now has the perfect solution. As part of its own app, the traditional company wants to inform you in the future about an upcoming receipt. So that you know directly what it is, you simply receive a photo of the envelope.
High security standards
The secrecy of correspondence is probably one of the best-known basic rights, which is protected by Article 10 (1) of the German Constitution. Accordingly, Deutsche Post DHL Group also promises “compliance with German data protection and security standards in the sorting centers” when transmitting its envelope photos. With version 8.0 of the “Post & DHL App”, the new notification feature is to be available to all customers. An update is expected to take place “in the next few days,” according to the company.
Uncomplicated activation
As modern as the feature may sound, the method of activation sounds outdated. Should you decide to use it, you’ll first need to check the app to see if you’re even eligible for the service in your region. If this is the case, you can activate the announcement. A short time later, you should receive a letter in your mailbox verifying your address. The procedure sounds old-fashioned, but should be effective.
Successful test at GMX and Web.de
Obviously, the “test run” of Deutsche Post has started very well. After all, some customers have already been able to enjoy the new feature. In particular, users of the e-mail services Web.de and GMX were able to try out the letter notification. Around 1 million customers also took up this offer. The number of users is likely to increase significantly once the service is made available to everyone. The move by Deutsche Post is certainly commendable. After all, the company is setting a good example when it comes to digitization. In the future, we will probably also be able to look forward to further steps toward a significant simplification of mail traffic with the help of the “Post & DHL App”.
