Devolo Magic 2 WiFi 6 Mesh: Powerline adapter with mesh is here

After the new adapters of the Magic 2 WiFi 6 series, the manufacturer now also launches the Devolo Magic 2 WiFi 6 Mesh powerline adapter. The new mesh WLAN adapter also relies on the WiFi 6 standard and can be easily integrated into the wireless network.

Devolo Magic 2 WiFi 6 Mesh expands the network

At the end of last year, Devolo updated its LAN powerline adapters to include the WiFi-6 standard. Now the Devolo Magic 2 WiFi 6 Mesh follows with a WLAn variant, which is offered as a Starter Kit and as a Multi Room Kit.

Not only do they rely on the modern and fast WiFi 6 wireless standard, but once again they can also be used as powerline adapters with G.hn technology. This allows communication between the adapters via the power grid. In this way, speeds of up to 2,400 Mbit/s can be achieved.

In WLAN, on the other hand, the adapters achieve up to 1,800 Mbps. 600 Mbit/s in the 2.4 GHz network and 1,200 Mbit/s in the 5 GHz network, which are combined via a total of four antennas to serve the full bandwidth. Also supported is smarter network management thanks to 802.11v/k/r AP steering, which allows devices to always connect to the optimal access point.

Optimized WLAN

With WiFi 6 connectivity, Devolo Magic 2 WiFi 6 Mesh adapters offer an optimized WLAN experience that features increased speed, efficiency and security. Features include QAM-1024 modulation, OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access), bidirectional MU-MIMO, Target Wake Time (TWT) and BSS Coloring, for example.

OFDMA increases data transmission efficiency by flexibly using channels and dividing them into smaller units. This results in lower latency due to smaller data packets, which benefits gamers and real-time applications in particular.

TWT, on the other hand, ensures that the WLAN can switch to an extended standby mode for end devices. This allows power to be saved while devices are automatically reactivated during communication.

Practical: Control using the devolo Home Network app is of course also possible. All adapters in the network can be accessed via smartphone. In addition, functions such as a parental control, guest WLAN and time control can be set with it.

Prices and availability

The Devolo Magic 2 WiFi 6 Mesh powerline adapter is available now in two versions. It starts at an MSRP of 349.90 euros for the Starter Kit, which consists of two adapters. The Multiroom Kit, on the other hand, consists of three WLAN Powerline adapters and costs 499.90 euros.
