DJI Avata 360: New standards for immersive 360° FPV flying

With the new DJI Avata 360, the drone manufacturer is launching an exciting innovation on the market that combines FPV flights and 360° videography. The drone is aimed at anyone who wants to take creative aerial shots to a new level – from action-packed FPV sequences to fully reframable 360° videos. In particular, the combination of 8K video, intelligent software and immersive flight experience clearly sets the Avata 360 apart from previous models.

  • 8K/60fps HDR 360° video with 1-inch equivalent sensors
  • O4+ video transmission with up to 20 km range and 1080p/60fps live image
  • Omnidirectional obstacle detection, even at night
  • Intelligent tracking features and flexible post-processing

DJI Avata 360: 8K 360° camera meets creative freedom

The greatest strength of the DJI Avata 360 lies in its versatile camera. With its 360° lens and 1-inch equivalent sensors, it can shoot in 8K at 60 frames per second – including HDR for high dynamic range. This results in detailed videos and photos with up to 120 megapixels, which are particularly suitable for professional content production.

A decisive advantage: the recorded material can be completely reframed afterwards. Perspectives can be flexibly adjusted without the need for a second flight. The system is supplemented by a single lens mode that enables classic 4K/60fps recordings and therefore also covers traditional FPV videos.

In combination with features such as “Virtual Gimbal”, particularly dynamic camera movements are created. Even complex perspective changes or rotations can be realized afterwards. This makes the drone not only a recording device, but also a powerful creative tool in post-production.

Focus on immersive flight experience and smart features

In addition to the camera, DJI is focusing heavily on an improved flight experience with the Avata 360. The O4+ video transmission system ensures stable live images in 1080p at 60 fps and achieves a range of up to 20 kilometers under optimal conditions. In combination with FPV goggles and motion controllers, this creates a particularly intense flying experience.

The drone is also state-of-the-art when it comes to safety. Omnidirectional obstacle detection – even at night – and integrated propeller guards reduce the risk of collisions. The maximum flight time of up to 23 minutes is within a solid range for this class.

On the software side, the Avata 360 offers numerous intelligent functions:

  • ActiveTrack 360° automatically adapts the tracking to different scenarios
  • Spotlight Free enables cinematic camera movements without manual control
  • FPV mode adds dynamic rolling movements – even retrospectively
  • One-click editing simplifies post-production directly in the app

There is also 42 GB of internal memory, enough for around 30 minutes of 8K 360° footage, as well as fast Wi-Fi 6 data transfer. Practical: The front lens element is replaceable, which makes repairs much easier.

Conclusion: DJI Avata 360 impresses with innovation and versatility

The DJI Avata 360 combines high-quality 360° videography with a real FPV flying experience in a compact system for the first time. In particular, the ability to freely design content retrospectively opens up new creative scope. Complemented by strong safety features and modern tracking technologies, the result is a well-rounded overall package.
