Dough Spectrum 4K 144 Hz gaming monitor from the community

Dough sees itself as the world’s first community-supported manufacturer of gaming hardware. They have now unveiled the Dough Spectrum 4K 144 Hz gaming monitor, an exciting display that comes in both matte and glossy finishes.

Developed in conjunction with the community, the 27-inch Dough Spectrum 4K 144 Hz gaming monitor is offered in both matte and glossy finishes. As the name suggests, it resolves in 4K UHD with 3,840 x 2,160 pixels and offers a refresh rate of 144 Hz.

The manufacturer took the feedback from the community into account during the development and implemented some exciting features. Technical details and the design came from the fans’ wishes. More than 2,000 community members responded to the call for feedback on Project Spectrum, Dough reveals.

For example, the display features improved HDR performance and achieves up to 750 nits of brightness with a dynamic contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1, so the Dough Spectrum 4K 144 Hz is said to provide a particularly clear and bright picture with exceptionally high contrast and rich colors.

Furthermore, the monitor features an individually calibrated color spectrum that covers 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space at the factory and is compatible with AMD FreeSync Pro and Nvidia G-Sync. It also features integer upscaling, which is perfect for retro gaming, a framerate counter overlay, and crosshair overlay options.

Modern technology meets ergonomics

Features of the Dough Spectrum 4K 144 Hz gaming monitor include two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4, two USB Type-C ports, and an integrated USB hub. It supports the 100×100 mm VESA Mounting Interface Standard as well as the optional Spectrum Stand for extra ergonomics.

This allows the monitor to tilt between +23 degrees and -7 degrees, raise or lower by 122 mm, and rotate 90 degrees vertically (pivot function).

Furthermore, according to the manufacturer, it satisfies the demand for high-resolution gaming monitors with a glossy surface. In addition to the usual matte coating, it is also offered in glossy form, so that colors, blacks and texts are displayed richer and sharper – of course, this is only worth it if you don’t have any light sources that cause unsightly reflections.

But hey: having a choice is a nice bonus, because there are actually almost exclusively matte gaming monitors on the market. By the way, Dough also offers a QHD monitor with 280 Hz (Spectrum QHD 280Hz) or a model with 144 Hz as an alternative.

Price and Availability

The Dough Spectrum 4K 144 Hz gaming monitor is available at an MSRP of €949 directly from the manufacturer and is scheduled to begin shipping in October 2022. Dough currently even gives a 150 euro discount on the model with matte coating, so you only pay 799 euros. The ergonomic Spectrum Stand costs an additional 99.00 Euros.

The price seems more than fair. Especially when you consider that a not quite as equipped Lenovo Legion Y32p-30 turns out to be similarly expensive.
