Due to clogging: Replacement of MSI Coreliquid 240R and 360R AiO coolers

Recently, there were more and more reports from customers who complained about the poor cooling performance of the all-in-one water coolers of the MSI Coreliquid 240R and Coreliquid 360R series. Now the manufacturer has admitted that clogging due to deposits can occur in both model series. A replacement can be arranged via MSI support for those affected.

MSI Coreliquid 240R and 360R have to be replaced

As MSI announces, there is a possibility of “a buildup that can lead to a blockage” in the two AiO water cooling systems MSI Coreliquid 240R and 360R (MAG CORELIQUID 240R / MAG CORELIQUID 360R). This would massively affect the cooling performance, but according to the manufacturer, only a very small part of the CPU coolers is affected by the problems.

Due to the overheating protection of the processors, this would not lead to damage, but those affected can quickly and easily arrange for replacement via MSI support.

How do you find out if you are affected?

In order to check if you are affected as the owner of one of the two All-in-One water cooler models, you should first check the CPU temperature. This is possible, for example, using the hardware monitor in the MSI Click-BIOS 5, which shows the temperature of the CPU in the dashboard at the top.

If this is already above 60 degrees Celsius in idle mode and all components are correctly installed and have thermal paste, a blockage of the channels due to deposits could be the cause. Then an exchange makes sense.

How can you request the replacement?

To request the replacement of the MSI Coreliquid 240R and Coreliquid 360R AiO coolers, MSI has set up a special landing page. There, you have to enter the product serial number, which you can find on the sticker with barcode.

Subsequently, the support website informs about further steps to complete the exchange of the affected components. “We offer an uncomplicated Pick-Up & Return service for Germany, Austria and Switzerland,” the site states. Apparently, the clogging problem is a worldwide phenomenon that MSI wants to examine in detail among all returned components.
