E-prescription: card with all points of acceptance

The electronic drug prescription is intended to digitize and facilitate communication between practices and pharmacies. It is also intended to make prescriptions more forgery-proof. However, implementation has been slow. Recently, a map has been created that lists all pharmacies that already accept the e-prescription.

4,500 pharmacies accept the e-prescription

Of the approximately 18,500 pharmacies that exist in the Federal Republic, around 4,500 currently accept the e-prescription. In addition, there are another 4,500 or so that are currently working on integrating the necessary technology into their operations and are expected to accept the electronic prescription shortly. Gematik GmbH, which is responsible for implementing the e-prescription, has now published a map listing all of these pharmacies.

The interactive map is intended to serve the popularity of the e-prescription: Until now, it has only been possible to find out whether digital prescriptions are already accepted at the targeted pharmacy via a Gematik app and by asking individual pharmacies.

Updated once a week

The new card is updated once a week. So in case of doubt, it can take seven days from the start of e-prescription acceptance to listing on the Gematik site. Added to this is the fact that pharmacies must actively report accepting the e-prescription in order to be listed. It is therefore entirely possible that the actual number of acceptance points is higher than that indicated by Gematik.
