Electromobility: Fisker Ocean also to come to Europe

Tesla, VW, Hyundai, … the list of successful car manufacturers that are now focusing on electromobility could be continued for several lines. But in view of the global trend, more and more rather unknown or even newly founded companies also see their chance to gain a foothold in this industry. Fisker is one such company. The U.S. company wants to offer its chic E-SUV for sale not only in the land of unlimited opportunity. Europe is also being targeted as a potentially promising market. The company says it plans to launch the world’s “most sustainable” e-cars before the end of this year.

Focus on Germany

While the company wants to sell its spacious cars with electric motors throughout Europe, it makes no secret of the fact that there is one particular market it is targeting – Germany. Fisker has also opened its first office in the country where the automobile was invented. This has been located in Munich since last year. But this is not to remain the e-car manufacturer’s only location. On top of that, a “Brand Experience Center” is to be built. It will most likely be possible to view the vehicles in detail. CEO Henrik Fisker comments on its planned European premiere as follows:

“Europe is a crucial market for our company as we work towards starting production in November at a CO2-neutral plant in Austria.”

But Fisker does not simply want to be an equal competitor to Tesla & Co. when it enters the market. Instead, the company has big plans. According to Fisker, the manufacturer’s electric cars will be the

“most sustainable vehicle in the world…”

, cited. The company’s business plan also sounds promising. If Fisker has its way, it plans to sell 60,000 models a year across Europe.

Convenient delivery

In these days of uncomplicated car ordering via the Internet, it sometimes happens that you have to “travel” hundreds of kilometers to a car dealership to pick up your new vehicle. The alternative is expensive third-party deliveries. Fisker wants to make it more convenient for customers.

Thus regional service centers are to make it possible for the vehicle to be delivered comfortably before the pets. Equally uncomplicated is to be the perception of service appointments. Here Fisker promises the integration of the in-house app, for example, to make an appointment for the next maintenance.

A total of four models

The company, which was founded in California, wants to ensure a successful market entry with a total of four e-cars for the European launch. Anyone interested in one of the vehicles can already pre-order them online. In terms of price, the e-cars are in the upper midfield. Thus one gets the most favorable Fisker at present to a UVP starting from 41,560 euro. The so-called innovation premium should then push this price down by another few thousand euros. The entry-level model in the form of the Fisker Ocean Sport should be able to offer a range of a solid 440 kilometers.

In the next higher model, the Ocean Ultra, 610 kilometers should then already be possible. While the cheapest Fisker is powered by a single engine, the Ultra, which starts at 57,000 euros, is said to have a dual engine. The two top models, Ocean Extreme and Ocean One, are each said to be capable of up to 630 kilometers and are also powered by a dual motor. However, with an MSRP starting at 69,950 euros, these can already be assigned to the upper class.

Top model as premiere vehicle

Fisker obviously knows how marketing works. Similarly as for example VW brought its ID.3 with a nearly fully equipped First edition at market entrance to man and woman, also Fisker sets on its Top model. In keeping with its name, the Fisker Ocean One will be the first to be launched. A limitation to just 5,000 vehicles should make it even more interesting for potential customers.

First presentation at the end of February

As we’ve already seen at this year’s CES, automakers are increasingly focusing on tech shows rather than car shows. Fisker is no different. Thus, according to company information, the Ocean will be presented at the “Mobile World Congress” in Barcelona before the end of February.
