Elgato Wave Next: The audio ecosystem of a new era for creators and pros

With Elgato Wave Next, Elgato is taking its audio platform to a new level. The next generation combines redesigned hardware, completely redeveloped software and physical control surfaces to create a closed ecosystem. This is the biggest evolution since the Wave series debuted in 2020. The focus is on simplified workflows, integrated signal processing and maximum scalability – from compact USB microphones to dual PC setups with multiple XLR sources.

  • Wave Link 3.0 free for Windows and macOS, compatible with almost any audio device
  • New Wave FX Processor with integrated DSP processing and VST insert technology
  • Four new hardware products including USB and XLR solutions
  • Modular, scalable audio ecosystem for streaming, recording and professional workflows

Elgato Wave Next: software, hardware and control as a single unit

At the heart of Elgato Wave Next is Wave Link 3.0, the completely newly developed mixing platform. The software is available free of charge for Windows and macOS and works with almost any microphone, audio interface or mixing console. Up to five independent submixes make it possible to distribute voice, game audio, music, chat or system sounds to different outputs for streaming, recording or monitoring.

A new horizontal routing matrix replaces classic channel strips and provides a tidy overview. Applications can be assigned to a channel with a click, and several apps can be bundled together. In addition, channel-specific effect processing allows the use of VST plug-ins per source. Integration into the Stream Deck ecosystem enables direct control including automatically generated profiles.

The hardware side is characterized by the new Wave FX Processor, which was developed in collaboration with LEWITT Audio. The custom chip transfers central signal processing steps directly into the devices. Clipguard 2.0 combines several analog-to-digital converters with 32-bit float processing and an intelligent limiter to prevent distortion at an early stage. Five integrated DSP effects – including Low Cut, Expander, Compressor, EQ and Voice Tune – work latency-free and without CPU load. Additional studio effects are seamlessly integrated into the hardware signal chain via VST insert technology.

New hardware generation: from USB to dual XLR professional setup

The Wave Next family includes several new devices. The Elgato Wave:3 MK.2 is aimed at users looking for a compact USB condenser microphone with integrated DSP processing. A supercardioid capsule tuned with LEWITT, Auto Gain Wizard and two monitoring modes ensure flexible application options. Settings are stored directly on the microphone.

The Elgato Wave XLR MK.2 provides XLR microphones with 80 dB clean gain, 48V phantom power and 135 dB dynamic range. Linear Mic Mix and Mic/PC Mix allow precise balance between microphone and system audio.

The Elgato XLR Dock MK.2 extends the Stream Deck + with professional XLR functionality including DSP and VST insert support. It can only be used in combination with the corresponding control unit.

The flagship product is the Elgato Wave XLR Pro, which will be released in the second quarter of 2026. Two independent XLR inputs with 80 dB gain each, five hardware-based mixes, integrated maximizer and channel-based ducking eliminate the need for separate interfaces or mixing consoles in dual-microphone setups. Front and rear headphone outputs drive models up to 600 ohms, while USB aux and stereo line I/O integrate additional devices.

The line-up is completed by the Elgato Stream Deck + XL with 36 LCD keys, six rotary controls and touch strip. Levels, effects and mixes can be controlled haptically – including visual real-time feedback.

Conclusion: Scalable audio ecosystem with a clear vision

Elgato Wave Next combines free professional software, DSP-optimized hardware and physical control to create a well thought-out overall solution. From the entry-level Wave:3 MK.2 to the complex multi-microphone setup with Wave XLR Pro, the system grows flexibly with you.

Wave:3 MK.2, Wave XLR MK.2, XLR Dock MK.2 and Stream Deck + XL are available now from elgato.com and the global CORSAIR dealer network. Wave XLR Pro will follow in Q2 2026 and Wave Link 3.0 is available for free download.
