Entry-level price for Renault Zoe increases significantly

Renault was once considered the patron of European electromobility. The extremely popular Renault Zoe model is also responsible for this. But after the company recently made headlines with its questionable battery policy, the next damper is now coming for customers. Thus, the French carmaker wants to make its Renault Zoe more expensive, despite increasing competition from other manufacturers. The price is to rise by a total of 11%. The reason for this is not a mere price increase. Instead, the French have unceremoniously removed the low-priced entry-level model with a small battery from the range.

Order freeze for electric cars

For many prospective buyers of the popular Renault Zoe, it will likely be a damper that the entry-level price will now rise from 33,140 euros to 36,840 euros. However, many people will still decide to buy the car in view of the much more expensive competition. However, this is not at all possible at the moment. After all, it has not been possible to order the car from Renault since March. This applies not only to the Zoe, but the entire electric division at Renault. The premium for the Renault Zoe is due to a revised equipment policy. Until last there was the small E-Flitzer of Renault alternatively with 41 kWh large battery or even the now standard 52 kWh large battery. In particular, people who drive exclusively in the city anyway were happy to opt for the smaller battery in order to benefit from the savings of 3,700 euros.

After all, this also offered a good WLTP range of 316 km. But even now, after taking out the model with the small battery, you still have a choice. This no longer concerns the battery size, but the motorization. Those who accept another 1,000 euros surcharge can turn the standard 80 kW engine into one with 100 kW. The semiconductor shortage or the collapse of many supply chains may be behind the current halt in orders. We are curious to know when Renault will be able to put an end to its order freeze. After all, the company is probably outrunning the competition at the moment. In particular in the segment of the small city runabouts other manufacturers place themselves straight more broadly than ever. The promising MG4 was presented just a few days ago.
