EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid: Gaming in-ear headphones now with microphone via USB-C

A fresh update for the EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid gaming in-ear headphones, which we were able to test ourselves last year. At that time, we criticized the fact that the built-in and good-sounding microphones could only be used with an active Bluetooth connection. The manufacturer EPOS Audio has now remedied this drawback and allows using the microphone via USB-C dongle.

EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid gets microphone via dongle

“The microphone can only be used when the Bluetooth connection is used. If the connection is via the low-latency adapter, only the sound output is supported in order to be able to provide the maximum bandwidth and thus a low latency for this,” we wrote in our review of the EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid in-ear headphones in April 2021.

This apparently also in the community often requested feature EPOS now submits, as one revealed today in a press release. For this purpose, they bring a revised version of the gaming in-ears to the start, but apparently only the new microphone use via USB-C dongle have been given as an upgrade. Otherwise, nothing changes in terms of technology, sound, design and compatibility of the GTW 270.

What the GTW 270 Hybrid can do

Unlike many other wireless in-ear headphones, the low-latency GTW 270 Hybrid provide clear audio with closed-back acoustics and a gaming sound you’ll be completely immersed in. In the meantime, however, many competitors have followed suit in this area. And even internally, they had recently raised the bar significantly with the EPOS H3PRO Hybrid (our review) over-ear headphones, for example.

The specially developed miniature EPOS audio drivers deliver deep and powerful bass, natural mids and crisp highs. There’s also multipoint connectivity for connecting to two audio sources simultaneously.

The in-ears can be connected via Bluetooth 5.1 or, with particularly low latency, via the included USB-C dongle. The in-ear headphones’ wireless dongle is designed for use with consoles and smartphones and is compatible with PC, PS5 and PS4, as well as any Bluetooth 5.1-compatible device including Nintendo Switch.

You can also adjust the audio settings and sound via the EPOS Gaming Suite software, as well as download the latest firmware and software updates. In our battery test, we were able to attest the in-ears a runtime of around 5 hours plus another 15 hours in combination with the charging case at the time.

Price and availability

The redesigned version of the EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid gaming in-ear headphones is available now at an MSRP of 149 euros on the official website, as well as at select retailers.
