EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid: New in-ear earphones introduced

The GTW 270 Hybrid are special in several ways. First of all, they are gaming in-ear headphones, which are a rarity on the market. In addition, they represent the first EPOS product that was not created in collaboration with Sennheiser.

Compatible with many output devices

Compatible with a wide variety of output devices are the new in-ear headphones. If desired, they come with a USB dongle that can be used to connect them not only to a PC, but also to Android devices, Nintendo’s Switch and PlayStation. Furthermore, they can be connected to a smartphone directly via Bluetooth 5.1, supporting both aptX and aptX LL. The latter reduces the latency from 160 to up to 60 milliseconds – LL stands for Low Latency. Those who can do without the dongle and want to use the headphones via Bluetooth do not have to purchase it and benefit from a lower price.

Long battery life

However, the GTW 270 Hybrid are said to impress not only with the wide range of compatible devices, but also with a battery life of up to five hours. They are charged via an included charging case, which provides another fifteen hours of runtime. The headphones are fully charged after 90 minutes. However, no one has to wait that long in case of doubt: Thanks to the quick-charge function, another 60 minutes of playtime are available after just fifteen minutes of charging.

Further data

The frequency response of the headphones is 20 to 20,000 Hz, the maximum sound pressure level is 100 decibels. Thanks to omnidirectional microphones, they are also suitable for telephony, with a frequency range of 100 Hz to 7.5 kHz. Playback and calls can be controlled via a single button located on the earpieces. The right headphone is also suitable for single use. EPOS also wants to score points with the IPX5 certification: The in-ear headphones can also be used outdoors without hesitation, since rain cannot harm them. Meanwhile, the headphones are delivered with different silicone inserts, which is supposed to take the circumstance of the individual ear anatomy into account. Also included are a USB-C charging cable and a 1.5-meter USB-C to USB-A extension cable.

Price and Availability

It is not yet known when the headphones will go on sale. The version without a dongle is expected to cost 169 euros, the one with a dongle 199 euros.
