EPOS H6PRO Closed and Open: New premium gaming headsets introduced

EPOS Audio has introduced two new premium gaming headsets following the success of the H3 headset series. The H6Pro comes in an open and closed variant. Can it beat the convincing H3 Hybrid (our review)?

High-fidelity audio experience

The EPOS H6PRO Closed and Open differ only in terms of their construction. While the Closed model is a classic, closed over-ear headset, the Open variant allows significantly more ambient noise through due to its open design and is primarily aimed at gamers who want to stay in touch with their surroundings or play in quiet environments.

The proprietary speaker system delivers the characteristic EPOS sound with an intense, open and comprehensive sound image for the finest natural and realistic game audio across the entire frequency spectrum with minimal listening fatigue.

In doing so, the H6PRO weighs in at around 309 grams and is equipped with 42mm dynamic drivers. It covers the obligatory frequency range of 20-20,000 Hz and offers 28 ohms of impedance.

Compared to the EPOS H3 series, the H6PRO relies on a completely different headset speaker system. The quality of the materials used and the workmanship are higher. It is a premium product with premium components. Compared to the GSP 600, the H6Pro has a new, narrower headband and ensures greater wearing comfort – the weight is around 20 percent lower in a direct comparison.

Removable microphone

As with the EPOS H3Hybrid, the magnetic microphone boom is removable. Should it give up the ghost before the two-year warranty expires, it can be replaced free of charge by the manufacturer. This is a bidirectional microphone that operates in the frequency range of 10-10,000 Hz. It relies on a sensitivity of -35 dBV/Pa at 1 kHz.

The extended microphone boom with lift-to-mute function is a revised design from the GSP 600 series and offers precise voice pickup. At the same time, the connector can be covered with the included cap, so the headset retains its tidy design and can be used as headphones on the go.

Compared to the EPOS H3Hybrid, however, the H6PRO cannot be used wirelessly. It connects either via 3.5mm double jack to the PC or via jack to a console or other audio source. This makes it compatible with almost all devices and current consoles such as PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch.

Prices and Availability

The new EPOS H6PRO Closed and Open premium gaming headsets are available in stores now. They are offered in Sebring Black, Ghost White and Racing Green and both have an MSRP of 179.00 euros.
