AI at the edge: EdgeAICore takes control locally
At the heart of the system is the EdgeAICore, a specially developed network video recorder (NVR) that not only records conventional video data, but also performs real-time analysis and object recognition using an integrated GPU. All data is processed offline and encrypted, so no external cloud service is required. This not only protects privacy, but also reduces dependency on third-party providers and monthly fees.
With 2 TB of storage available ex works and the option to expand this to up to 16 TB, there is enough space for extensive video archives. Thanks to keyword searches for objects or people, users can search for specific events without having to sift through hours of video footage. Whether “black car” or “bicycle messenger” – the system filters out suitable recordings in seconds.
360-degree protection without blind spots
The four eufy S4 Max cameras included in the scope of delivery are at the heart of the visual surveillance system. Equipped with three camera modules per unit, they provide a complete all-round view: a static 4K wide-angle camera ensures broad basic surveillance, while a rotating dual 2K PTZ camera with eightfold zoom identifies objects up to 50 meters away. This completely eliminates dead zones – a clear advantage over conventional single-lens systems.
The cameras are connected via Power over Ethernet (PoE), which ensures stable, uninterrupted video transmission around the clock. At the same time, an optional WLAN module has been announced for wireless use – ideal for locations without network cabling. The cameras can also be seamlessly combined with up to 16 devices from the eufy ecosystem, which is particularly relevant for larger properties or commercial installations.
Particularly impressive: the Live Cross Cam Tracking function allows the automatic transfer of a tracked object from camera to camera. For example, a person moving across the site remains in the system’s field of vision at all times. The integrated AI not only recognizes people, animals or vehicles, but also analyses their behaviour and makes its own decisions as to whether and how it should react.
Sight, sound, reaction: security that communicates
The eufy S4 Max system is not limited to the passive collection of video data. If the system detects a possible intrusion, it activates loud sirens, blue-red warning lights and optional voice output via two-way audio. This activates the security mechanism – potential intruders are immediately deterred, while users are informed directly via the app or the new eufy Smart Display.
The latter is an eight-inch HD tablet that for the first time offers an independent camera control center without an additional device. Users can keep an eye on their home at all times via up to four live feeds simultaneously. Compatibility with eufy HomeBase 3 also brings advanced features such as face and parcel recognition, which can be automatically summarized in a daily security report.
