- AI-powered facial recognition and precise motion detection
- Wireless with long-lasting battery and easy plug-and-play setup
- Available immediately at an RRP of approx. 199.99 €
The EP4 is aimed at tech-savvy users who want smart home security without compromise and without complicated installation.
Smart overview directly at the door
The new smart peephole from EZVIZ delivers high-resolution images directly to the integrated 5.5-inch touchscreen thanks to its 4K camera. Compared to classic optical door viewers, the combination of a color display, large aperture of F1.6 and an ultra-wide lens enables a much clearer and more detailed image, whether in daylight or difficult lighting conditions. WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) technology and distortion correction also contribute to more natural and balanced images.
One highlight is the AI-supported face recognition. It not only allows you to differentiate between people and other movements, but also recognizes familiar faces and reduces imprecise standard motion notifications. This enables targeted notifications – for example, when a family member arrives or an unknown visitor is at the door.
In combination with PIR motion sensors (passive infrared), activities in the entrance area are detected even more precisely and sent directly to the smartphone, even when you are out and about. A practical two-way audio function also makes it possible to speak directly to people outside the door via smartphone, regardless of whether you are at home or not. This function complements the security concept of the EP4 and sets it apart from many classic door viewers.
Installation and suitability for everyday use
The EP4 is completely wireless and is powered by a rechargeable 7,100 mAh lithium battery, which greatly simplifies installation: no drilling of cable ducts or time-consuming laying of cables – provided the door has a peephole drilling diameter of 14 mm to 50 mm and a door thickness of 35 mm to 105 mm. The battery life is designed for normal everyday use and only requires occasional recharging.
The storage of video material is also flexible: In addition to local storage via microSD card (up to 512 GB), EZVIZ CloudPlay storage is optionally supported (check availability depending on market). The door viewer is available in two color variants – silver and gold – to match different interior styles.
The EP4 complements the existing portfolio of smart home security solutions and is in a similar product category to other door viewer or doorbell cameras, e.g. the more affordable EZVIZ HP4 or older Wi-Fi door viewer models such as EZVIZ Wi-Fi Doorbell with 4600 mAh battery, although the EP4 is a significant upgrade with its 4K image and AI functions.
Conclusion
The new smart networked door viewer impresses with modern security features, high image quality and a well thought-out operating concept. With 4K resolution, AI-supported detection and direct smartphone integration, the EP4 offers a noticeable improvement over classic models or simple video door viewers. The wireless installation and flexible storage options make it particularly attractive for technology enthusiasts and smart home users. At market launch, the EZVIZ EP4 is available at a price of € 158.76 *.
