The Feiyu Pocket 4 is a new, inexpensive gimbal camera that could position itself as a serious alternative to established models. Initial hands-on impressions show significant improvements compared to its predecessor – including a larger sensor, a revised design and new operating concepts. Particularly interesting: despite its modern features, the camera is set to launch at a comparatively low price.

  • Larger 1/1.55-inch sensor for better image quality
  • Innovative slide mechanism with protection and switch-off function
  • Integrated 4K video with 60 fps and AI tracking
  • Price expected to start at around 300 euros

Feiyu Pocket 4: More performance and smarter design for mobile creator

The Feiyu Pocket 4 gimbal camera stands out from the competition thanks to its unusual operating concept. The integrated 2.64-inch display has an almost square design and allows flexible use in both portrait and landscape format. This orientation is clearly tailored to modern content platforms, where vertical videos are becoming increasingly important.

The new interaction logic is particularly interesting: the device can be switched on and off using swipe gestures. When switched off, the display also serves as protection for the gimbal mechanism. This approach seems plausible and well thought-out, as it could make an additional protective case superfluous and increase mobility at the same time.

There have also been significant advances in the gimbal itself. With a freedom of rotation of up to 450 degrees on the pan axis, FeiyuTech considerably expands the creative scope. This makes it easier to realize complex camera movements such as orbit shots or dynamic panning. Compared to many current models, which are usually around 300 degrees, this represents real added value.

Overall, it is clear that FeiyuTech is not only focusing on technical improvements, but also on the user experience. This concept could be particularly attractive for mobile creators who want to work quickly and intuitively.

Budget alternative with potential: competition for DJI and Insta360?

In addition to its design, the Feiyu Pocket 4 also impresses with its technical features. A new 50-megapixel sensor with DCG HDR technology ensures improved image quality with a higher dynamic range. As a result, details are better preserved in both bright and dark areas of the image – an important factor when shooting in difficult lighting conditions.

The integrated ultra-wide-angle lens with a field of view of 110 degrees (equivalent to around 15 mm) makes it easy to capture large scenes. This is complemented by a 4x digital zoom which, according to the manufacturer, delivers solid image quality even when magnified. This combination of high resolution and flexible field of view looks logical and contemporary for a compact gimbal camera.

The AI-supported functions are a central component. Features such as automatic tracking, gesture control and intelligent embellishment are particularly aimed at solo creators. This allows you to take pictures without additional help, while the subject remains reliably in focus. Such functions are already familiar from other devices, but are consistently integrated into a compact system here.

With an expected price of around 300 euros, the Feiyu Pocket 4 is clearly positioned in the budget segment, but remains surprisingly ambitious in technical terms. Compared to premium models, it may offer fewer professional features, but for many users it could represent exactly the right balance between price and performance.

An integrated 64 GB memory and a battery life of up to 150 minutes underline the focus on mobile use. This makes the camera suitable for longer recording sessions without additional hardware. The 110-degree field of view also offers enough flexibility for different shooting situations – from selfie vlogs to landscape shots.

However, it remains to be seen how the camera performs in practice. Aspects such as low-light performance or audio options – such as support for external microphones – are decisive for the actual added value. The predecessor already had limitations here, which is why the new generation will have to impress in these areas.

Nevertheless, there are many indications that FeiyuTech is continuing to develop its product line and wants to establish itself more firmly on the market. The technical data seems plausible and corresponds to current trends in the field of compact gimbal cameras. Whether it can beat the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 (our test) remains to be seen. The manufacturer officially unveiled the camera at the end of April but still left some details open.

Conclusion

The Feiyu Pocket 4 is an exciting further development in the field of affordable gimbal cameras. With an improved sensor, sophisticated design and modern features, it could become an attractive alternative to more expensive models. An official release date has yet to be announced, but the price is expected to be around 300 euros – a promising overall package for price-conscious creators.
