Fiido X: New e-bike with cool features presented

Fiido attracted international attention with the D11 some time ago: The Chinese manufacturer had presented an e-bike with disc brakes, Shimano gears, folding mechanism and eye-catching design, which ranked far below the average with a price of only 700 euros. Now the Fiido X is to follow and consistently continue the path taken.

Folding frame with magnesium alloy

The new e-bike again features a foldable frame with magnesium alloy, which has no visible seams and can be easily folded. The folding hinge is housed in such a way that it cannot be seen directly – the mechanism thus does not harm the appearance. With the establishment of the folding mechanism, Fiido has already shown in the previous model that it understands the trends of the present: E-bikes must not be too big, because in the sparse space available in the big city, where they are mainly used, they otherwise take away valuable storage space in the apartment or in front of the door. At the same time, the company attaches great importance to the visual qualities of its bicycles, as evidenced by the compromise between practicality and said visual appearance found with the hidden hinge. Overall, the bike appears futuristic due to its design, which differs from ordinary bicycles. Compared to its predecessor, the new e-bike also looks more eye-catching due to its more pronounced frame. The striking turquoise color of the predecessor model, however, has been retained.

Integrated combination lock

The new e-bike is also said to score points with an integrated combination lock, which provides the necessary security for the companion. E-bikes are practical and usually relatively expensive – and thus a correspondingly popular target for spontaneous theft. The integrated lock is designed to banish this danger – without any visually unsightly and, due to the need for constant reminders to take along, less secure external solutions.

Just like its predecessor, the e-bike is equipped with disc brakes and a battery housed in the seatpost. The motor including torque sensor is located on the rear wheel. Overall, Fiido speaks of having presented an improved version of the previous model.

Price and availability

Neither on the price nor on the availability there is conclusive information. All that is known so far is that Fiido ultimately wants to offer the model at a price of $1,999, which puts it far above the predecessor in terms of price. It is supposed to be cheaper with Early Bird offers: Offers at a price of around 1,000 US dollars are also supposed to be available here. More information can be found on the project’s Indiegogo page.
