Formovie has presented a new laser projector. The Formovie X5 is supposed to be able to conjure up a gigantic image diagonal of up to 1,000 inches on the screen in addition to a high 4K resolution. On top of that, the 4,500 ANSI lumens bright projector is said to be able to offer great sound thanks to an integrated sound system from Denon.
Formovie X5 offers up to 1,000 inches
The first pictures of the Formovie X5 certainly justify calling the projector unimpressive. However, a look at the technical specifications of the cube-shaped and just 16.7 x 21 x 21 cm measuring small laser projector reveals a completely different impression. Among other things, it scores with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. However, the image diagonal is particularly impressive. Here, the minimum is already a pleasingly large 60 inches. However, a maximum of 1,000 inches is supposed to be possible. That would correspond to a diagonal of over 25 meters. However, if you want to tickle the huge picture out of the projector, you’ll have to set it up correspondingly far away from the screen. Formovie specifies a distance of between 1.93 meters and 32.3 meters. So if you really want to enjoy the 1,000 inches, you’ll probably have to move outdoors.

Furthermore, the manufacturer states that the X5 should offer a brightness of a very good 4,500 ANSI lumens. When it comes to build quality, the Formovie X5 also seems to get a few things right. The high-quality fabric cover on the upper side is definitely suitable for living rooms. Denon’s speaker technology is hidden under the cover. This consists of a woofer with 6 watts and two stereo speakers with 12 watts each. A certification for Dolby Audio and DTS:HD promises a good sound. The ARM chip MediaTek MT9669 is supposed to ensure a fast performance. According to Formovie, this enables a smooth use of common smart TV features in interaction with WiFi 6.

For now not in Germany
If and when the Formovie X5 will also launch in our climes, is so far still in the stars. For the time being, only Chinese customers can enjoy the promising laser projector. With a price of the equivalent of 1,620 Euros, the device can definitely be placed in the premium class.
