Fossil unveils Skagen Falster Gen 6 smartwatch with improvements
The WearOS smartwatch Fossil Gen 6 could convince in our test and just received a gaming re-release in cooperation with Razer. Now another model is announced under the name Skagen Falster Gen 6, which brings some technical improvements in addition to a noble Milanaise stainless steel bracelet.
Skagen Falster Gen 6 smartwatch unveiled
Since the Skagen Falster Gen 6 is built on the basis of the Fossil Gen 6, it is little surprise that both smartwatch models share most of the specifications. Accordingly, the new wearable also relies on Google’s WearOS platform and is equipped with the fast Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processor. It is supported by 1 GB of working memory and 8 GB of flash storage.
Other similarities include the diagonal of 42 millimeters and the round AMOLED display with a diagonal of 1.28 inches and a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels (326 ppi). NFC for mobile payments, as well as all sensors like heart rate sensor and SpO2 sensor including fitness functions are also part of the game.
New design, faster loading time
However, thanks to its classy stainless steel Milanaise bracelet, the Falster Gen 6 combines the aesthetics of an analog watch with the functions of a smartwatch. Alternatively, bracelets in black silicone or espresso-colored leather are available.
There is a significant improvement over the Fossil Gen 6 in terms of battery charging time. Thanks to the quick-charge function, the Danish manufacturer’s model is fully charged to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. The Gen 6 only reached about 54% in the same time in our test.
However, Skagen does not provide any information about the battery runtime. We therefore assume that this will once again be the Achilles’ heel and will only be beyond the 24-hour mark with luck. Like its Fossil counterpart, the Skagen Falster Gen 6 is currently still shipped with Google Wear OS 2. However, the update to Wear OS 3.0 is supposed to follow in the course of 2022.
Price and Availability
The Skagen Falster Gen 6 smartwatch is available now via the manufacturer’s website in black, silver and gold with a variety of straps. The MSRP is 299.00 euros, while the normal Fossil Gen 6 is currently already available from 261.66 euros.
