Foxconn Foxtron Model B and Model V: Two new electric cars unveiled

Tech giant Foxconn, best known in this country as the producer of the iPhone, is going car manufacturing. Under the Hon Hai Precision Inc. umbrella, it has unveiled the Foxtron Model B and Model V, a compact electric small car, and an electric pickup truck.

In the fall of 2021, Taiwan-based Foxconn announced its entry as a car manufacturer. In this country, Foxconn (officially Hon Hai Precision Inc.) is best known as a technology producer that, for example, manufactures the iPhone on behalf of Apple.

Last year, it already held out the prospect of a whole series of e-cars, including the Model C e-SUV, the Model E sedan and the Model T mini-bus. On October 18, the company will hold Hon Hai Tech Day 2022 (HHTD22), where it will unveil the Model B Foxtron compact car, as well as the Model V electric pickup truck. First teasers already reveal details.

Foxconn Foxtron Model B: electric compact car celebrates premiere

For the noble small car Foxconn Foxtron Model B, the manufacturer from Taiwan has secured the services of Italian designers Pininfarina, which tailors the electric small car an iconic look on the body.

The 30-second teaser video does not reveal any technical details, but it does show a few exciting design elements. Visually, however, the small car, which wants to take on the likes of the VW ID.3, MG 4 or Peugeot e-208, is beefy and sporty.

Eye-catching features here are the wide LED light strip that stretches across the entire front end, as well as the turn signals or lights at the rear, which can display information for following traffic with an animation.

The female Asian model also suggests that the Foxtron Model B is likely to be quite low in terms of build height. However, we’ll have to wait another week or so for more and, more importantly, concrete details.

Foxconn Foxtron Model V: Electric pick-up with a classy look

No less exciting is the electric pick-up called Foxconn Foxtron Model V, which is likely to be particularly popular on the US market. Here, too, technical details are currently still in short supply, and the premiere is not scheduled to take place until October 18.

Eye-catching design features of the chunky two-door truck include nearly invisible door handles, a self-extracting rotary knob for the automatic transmission and futuristic-looking LED lighting on the truck, which is finished in light blue.

All of Foxconn’s models are to be based on the specially developed MiH (“Mobility in Harmony) platform, which is built on open-source code. According to the manufacturer, MiH is supposed to represent a kind of “Android for electric vehicles” – a clear allusion to Tesla. However, concrete details are still scarce.

However, these should follow in a few days, together with the presentation of the electric car lineup. The Hon Hai Tech Day 2022 is scheduled for October 18, 2022, and will present the Foxconn Foxtron models and platform in detail.
