FRITZ!OS 8: The latest update for the FRITZ!Box

With the release of FRITZ!OS 8, AVM is bringing numerous improvements to its popular FRITZ!Box routers. The update is now available for an extended list of devices and provides over 60 new functions.

The most important features in brief

  • FRITZ!OS 8 is available for many router models, including the Fritzbox 4040 and 7530 AX.
  • New functions such as an extended online monitor and IPv6 support for WireGuard.
  • Improvements for smart home applications and mesh networks.

New features and improvements in FRITZ!OS 8

The new FRITZ!OS 8 offers a range of significant innovations that make the home network more powerful and convenient. Highlights include the enhanced online monitor, which provides detailed insights into Internet usage and connection quality. This enables better control over the data flow and helps to identify bottlenecks at an early stage. For mesh networks, which are often used in larger households or offices, the update improves stability and performance. This allows devices to communicate seamlessly with each other.

FritzOS 8 offers interesting functions, especially for VPN users. The VPN protocol WireGuard now has support for IPv6. This means that the use of VPNs is not only more secure, but also easier. This should please security-conscious users in particular. Another benefit of the update is the extended integration of smart home devices. Users can now conveniently control even more devices via their FRITZ!Box and integrate them into automated processes.

The MyFRITZ! app has also been optimized and offers more convenient remote access to the FRITZ!Box and all connected devices. This means that the network can also be monitored and managed on the move. FRITZ!OS 8 is therefore aimed at a broad target group who want to benefit from the improved network stability, the extended functions for smart homes and the security updates.
