Galaxus now displays return and warranty rates

Galaxus is entering new realms when it comes to transparency for its customers. From now on, the Swiss-based online retailer will be displaying exciting statistics on warranty claims and returns rates. This not only ensures that Galaxus customers can now weigh up whether or not they want to take the risk of an early defect. On top of that, the retailer is turning into a practical comparison portal where end customers can find out about the longevity of products from very specific manufacturers.

Galaxus becomes the new reference work

The product pages on Galaxus will be expanded to include additional information in the future. This is announced by the online store on the official website. If you want to buy a new pair of shoes, a new notebook or a refrigerator in the future, customer reviews are no longer the only basis for a purchase decision. On top of that, you can now also view exciting information under the items “Return” and “Warranty”, which can serve as a decision-making aid. One important value is the so-called return rate. As the name suggests, you can see how often products from a particular manufacturer are returned.

To give manufacturers the opportunity to improve, Galaxus refers only to the return rates of the last 12 months. A corresponding statistic can then be viewed in the product categories. So if you are looking for a suitable TV, you can see, for example, that 2.4 percent of all buyers of a Samsung TV decide to return it after purchase. On top of that, you can look at the “warranty case rate.” This is a valuable indication of the longevity of a product.

Finally, you can view what percentage of products of a particular make had a defect within the first 24 months. A negative example in this case are PCs of the brand Medion. According to Galaxus, the brand has a proud 6.4 percent of warranty cases. In contrast, Apple shines with an extremely low rate of just 0.8%. If a warranty case should occur, the user wants a fast and uncomplicated service. You can also find out whether this is the case in Galaxus’ statistics. Galaxus doesn’t give the result in percentage points, but in days. This allows you to estimate how long it takes to repair or replace a device with a new one.

Sensible addition to the customer rating

What Galaxus has set up here could probably revolutionize the entire online market. After all, the online mail order company is thus solving the problem of fake reviews, which are unfortunately found on almost every platform these days. However, customer reviews not only suffer from the fact that you simply don’t know whether they are real or fake. On top of that, they are usually submitted immediately after the purchase. As a rule, you don’t learn anything about long-term experiences and thus the longevity of a product. With the introduction of its new statistics, Galaxus not only wants to provide its customers with a new decision-making aid. It also aims to reduce its own costs. After all, every return and every warranty claim is also a financial burden for the store. This problem could be solved by adapting the buying behavior of customers.
