Many details have already circulated before the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S22 lineup in February. Now, an extensive new Galaxy S22 leak provides new information on the European version of the three smartphones.
Galaxy S22 Leak Reveals More Details
The new Galaxy S22 leak once again comes from the German portal WinFuture, which says it has exclusive access to all information, official images and pricing of the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra for the German market.
According to that, the three new smartphones in this country are based on Samsung’s new Exynos 2200 SoC, which wants to convince especially in the gaming sector with a ray-tracing capable AMD GPU. As an operating system, all Samsung Galaxy S22 models rely on Samsung One UI 4.1 based on Android 12.
The Koreans rely on a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED display for the entry-level Samsung Galaxy S22 model. It is thus minimally smaller than the panel of the predecessor, which had a diagonal of 6.2 inches. It offers a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels and a frame rate of 120 Hz. The maximum brightness is supposed to be 1,500 nits.
According to the leak, the Galaxy S22 features 8 GB of RAM and either 128 GB or 256 GB of flash storage. Wi-Fi 6 (WLAN-ax), Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and 5G are among the other features.
In terms of the camera setup, Samsung also relies on a triple-cam setup at the back of the smallest model, which consists of a 50-megapixel wide-angle main camera, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a telephoto lens with a resolution of 10 megapixels. For selfies, the S22 resorts to a 10-megapixel sensor in a punch hole.
A 3700 mAh battery is installed, which can be charged quickly via USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1. Accordingly, the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is installed directly in the display. The Samsung Galaxy S22 is said to be 167 grams light, have an IP68 certification and will be offered in black, white, green and pink gold.
The mid-range Samsung Galaxy S22+ model differs from the normal S22 in a few aspects. According to the leak, the Koreans install a “Dynamic AMOLED 2X” display with a diagonal of 6.6 inches, which is also supposed to have a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels at up to 120 Hz. In return, the maximum brightness increases to 1,750 nits when displaying HDR content.
The S22+ also relies on the Exynos 2200 chip, which is supported by 8 GB of working memory and up to 256 GB of flash storage. However, there are no differences in terms of cameras. Here, too, a triple camera setup consisting of 50 MP + 12 MP + 10 MP lenses is installed on the rear, while a 10 MP selfie cam is installed on the front.
On the other hand, another difference marks the battery capacity, which is said to be 4,500 mAh. This is also accompanied by a correspondingly higher weight, which is 196 grams. The Samsung Galaxy S22+ will be offered in black, white, green and pink gold.
Galaxy S22 Ultra
On the other hand, many changes await us in the top model Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, which relies on a completely different design in contrast to its brothers. Samsung installs an angular body with outwardly curved display edges of the Infinity-O Edge display.
A 6.8-inch OLED display with a resolution of 3080 x 1440 pixels, a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and a maximum brightness of 1,750 nits is offered. The Exynos 2200 SoC is also at work here, but 8 GB RAM and 12 GB RAM, as well as 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB storage are available.
The camera setup is also exciting, because Samsung installs four lenses on the back of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which are divided as follows:
- 108 MP main camera, 85° field of view, f/1.8, 2PD, OIS
- 12 MP ultra-wide angle, 120° field of view, f/2.2, 13mm, 1/2.55 inch,, 2PD, AF
- 10 MP telephoto lens, 36° field of view, f/2.4, 69mm, 1/3.52 inch, 2PD, OIS
- 10 MP telephoto lens, 11° field of view, f/4.9, 230mm, 1/3.52 inch, 2PD, OIS
- 40 MP front-facing camera, f/2.2, 80° field of view, 25mm, 1/2.8 inch, AF
The two telephoto lenses are particularly eye-catching here, with one said to offer 3x optical zoom and the other 10x magnification. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is also equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery, which results in a weight of 227 grams. The dimensions are 163.3 x 77.9 x 8.9 mm (height x width x depth).
WLAN-ax, USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, 5G and an under-display fingerprint sensor are also among the features.
