The Garmin Fenix 7 and Epix 2 smartwatches have received their most extensive software updates to date. In addition to numerous bug fixes, both wearables will receive over 25 new features, including new sport modes, watch faces and more.
Garmin Fenix 7 and Epix 2 update announced
System software version 8.18 for both the Garmin Fenix 7 and Epix 2 smartwatches is officially rolling out, the manufacturer has revealed on its own support forum, citing the long list of changes and improvements right away. The rollout will take place, as usual, in several waves. It may take a few more days until the update is displayed and can be downloaded via the Garmin Connect app.
Among other things, the software update fixes bugs with various Watch Face UIs or problems with Connect IQ apps that did not reload after an update. The full list of bug fixes is long, but almost as long is the list of new features that the Garmin Fenix 7 and Epix 2 get donated.
Garmin Fenix 7 and Epix 2 update: most important innovations
Among the most important new features that Garmin Fenix 7 and Epix 2 are getting with the update is support for Connect IQ System 5, as well as new sport modes for fishing or horseback riding.
In addition, the map manager now shows how long it is expected to take to download maps, while a new fitness age indicator has been added to the user profile. The pedometer widget can now display the series for consecutive days of completed goals, while the activity summary has been expanded with many additional details.
Within the heart rate app, there is now a new options menu, golf and ski maps can now be downloaded automatically, and watch faces can be configured with many additional widgets. For example, sunrise and sunset, calories burned, or (finally!) steps can be displayed.
The new Garmin Fenix 7 and Epix 2 update to version 8.18 contains a total of 28 new features and improvements, while the list of bug fixes and error corrections is much longer.
