Gemini 3.1 Pro: Google’s new AI model for complex tasks and advanced reasoning

With Gemini 3.1 Pro, Google is taking the performance of its AI models to a new level. The upgrade builds on the Gemini 3 series and brings significantly improved reasoning capabilities to developer tools, enterprise solutions and consumer applications. The aim is to solve complex problems in areas such as research, software development and data-driven analysis in a more precise and structured way.

  • Significantly improved reasoning with 77.1 % on ARC-AGI-2
  • Available in Gemini API, Vertex AI, Gemini App and NotebookLM
  • Optimized for complex logic patterns and agentic workflows
  • Support for code generation, visual explanations and data synthesis

Gemini 3.1 Pro improves core reasoning and benchmark performance

Gemini 3.1 Pro marks an important step in the further development of generative AI. According to Google, the model achieves a verified score of 77.1 percent on the demanding ARC-AGI-2 benchmark. This benchmark measures a model’s ability to recognize and solve completely new logic patterns – an area that is considered an indicator of advanced reasoning. Compared to Gemini 3 Pro, the performance was more than doubled.

The focus of Gemini 3.1 Pro is on complex tasks where simple answers are not enough. Instead of isolated text generation, the focus is on structured problem solving. The model can synthesize information from different sources, analyze logical relationships and develop multi-stage solutions. This form of “applied intelligence” is becoming increasingly relevant, especially in scientific, technical or data-intensive scenarios.

One example of its practical implementation is the code-based generation of animated SVG graphics directly from text prompts. As the output is created in pure code instead of as pixel graphics, it remains scalable and saves resources. Even complex visualizations or interactive elements can be integrated efficiently. Gemini 3.1 Pro thus extends the range of applications beyond classic text responses towards production-ready artifacts.

Broad integration in developer and enterprise environments

Gemini 3.1 Pro will initially be rolled out as a preview version and is available to developers via the Gemini API in Google AI Studio, Gemini CLI and platforms such as Vertex AI and Gemini Enterprise. The model is also integrated into Android Studio and Google’s agent-based development environment Antigravity. This broad integration enables teams to embed AI functionality directly into existing development processes.

For end users, Gemini 3.1 Pro is available in the Gemini app, with users of the Google AI Pro and Ultra plans benefiting from higher usage limits. In addition, the model is offered exclusively for Pro and Ultra users in NotebookLM. Google is thus positioning the model as a tool for professional workflows as well as for demanding everyday applications.

Particular attention is paid to so-called agentic workflows. The model takes on complex, multi-stage tasks independently, plans intermediate steps and adapts strategies dynamically. This approach is considered the next evolutionary stage of generative AI systems, as it goes beyond pure prompt-response interactions and enables more process-oriented work.

Conclusion

Gemini 3.1 Pro sets new standards in the field of AI reasoning and complex problem solving. With strong benchmark performance, integration into developer tools and enterprise platforms as well as extended functions for code and visualization tasks, the model positions itself as a powerful basis for demanding applications. The preview is available now, with wider general availability expected soon.
