Gigabyte introduces new notebooks – Aero, Aorus and the A-series

Gigabyte has introduced some new products just in time for CES 2021. The Taiwanese manufacturer of computer hardware has turned its portfolio upside down and relaunched the Aorus and Aero notebooks. That’s not all, there’s also a new series to go with it.

AMD Ryzen 5000 moves in

Gigabyte’s new gaming notebooks won’t just have Intel CPUs. There will also be models with AMD Cezanne aka Ryzen 5000, but the premium Aorus and Aero models will stick with the Intel CPU. The Comet Lake-H is used here, with up to eight cores and up to the Core i9. There are already the new Tiger Lake H35 processors with four cores or the Tiger Lake H56 with eight cores, but the version with eight cores is currently not yet available. According to reports, the eight-core version will only go into production at the end of the first quarter of this year, which means that they will probably only be available in stores in May 2021.

The new AMD Ryzen processors will find their way into Gigabyte’s new A5 and A7 models. Either the R9-5900H or the R7-5800H is used for the A5 X1. The A5 K1 also gets the AMD CPU, here you have the choice between AMD R7-5800H or the R5-5600H. Last but not least, the A7 K1 comes with AMD’s R7-5800H.

From now on with Nvidia GeForce RTX 3000

All new models will get the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3000, up to the RTX 3080, with a maximum of 8 GB VRAM, for this with immediate effect. The 16 GB version is not yet available in Gigabyte’s new models. More precisely, the A5 X1 gets a GeForce RTX 3070, whereas the A5 K1 and A7 K1 get the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060. The two Aorus 15-inchers come with a 240 hertz panel and the Aorus 17G offers a 300 hertz display. Gigabyte relies on a Full HD resolution for the Aorus models. The Aero 15 OLED and Aero 17 HDR models are also available in UHD. The displays of the A-series also come in Full HD with an IPS panel. You can choose between 240 and 144 hertz. The manufacturer specifies NTSC with a coverage of 72 percent as the color space.

Availability and price

The prices as well as availability of the new Gigabyte models are not known yet. However, the Gigabyte Aorus and Aero notebooks can already be pre-ordered and are supposed to start shipping on January 26.
